Does anyone understand how Pittsburgh let this guy walk over a couple hundred thousand? This is a perfect example of a GM who thinks like many on these boards, haggling over perceived value and therefore losing a player. 1.75 million for your heart and soul guy, the guy who scored the goals to win you the cup.

How did they let him go. Thank-you Pittsburgh./
From what I understand, he wasn't this good the last two years.
simply look at Briere, big paycheck zero play in whole season except one or maybe 2 games, most of HF fans wanted him out.
I was among them becuase i didn't believe there is playoffs switch, but look , it does exist, without danny we would be most likely losing this series, or 2:1 tops.

No playoff switch when thinking about Briere? Plus Maf's play lets us still lead this series.
Well... one thing he still sucks in is faceoffs... and people yelled at my saying I was going to be wrong about it. People even said he was a natural center. Just goes to show some really dont know what they are talking about. When your bad in faceoffs for what 5-6 years, you are not going to all of a sudden be good.
This is a career year for Talbot. He's been great. But if he goes back to how he was in Pittsburgh the past two years, he's going to be over-paid.
Yeah, Talbot's been great this season, but I don't expect him to put up as many points next season. As long as he brings all the other things he does on the ice (and by all accounts he is a great guy to have in a locker room as well), I won't mind that though.
I'm sure that the Pens regret letting Talbot walk right now, but he was coming off a couple of seasons where his play had declined, and they also had some injury concerns regarding him. It's tough to say that they clearly made the wrong choice, given the situation that was.
Everyone loved Max, he is a great guy. Wish he wasn't always hurt and could score in regular season. I am glad he is getting his payday, just not with your team. I think it would suck to trade your captain and Carter. Always feared those guy's. Better hope the Kings don't meet your team in SCF,,,,if you get that far.

Pens fans say he was sandbagging it after the Cup run. I didn't follow them much but apparently he was pretty bad for them.
I'm eating crow with Talbot. I hated him before he signed with us and then I thought he was overpaid. He's been worth every penny. Talbot, keep proving me wrong, you beautiful *******.
As a flyers fan I'll be the first to admit I wasn't really impressed with his play. I questioned why they signed him. But now I realize why they did. He fits in perfectly here. In other words he's impressed me this year.
