Mark Madden "Reveals" Information to the Public....

Not sure how true this is, but I will admit, Madden is usually not a BS'er when it comes to hockey.

"You heard it here first. If the Pens go out in the 1st round, expect a MAJOR MOVE. Listen tomorrow, 3-6pm on 105.9 The X. Here's a hint. It'll be one of the six guys on the billboard."

This was posted on his personal Facebook page. I wonder if it's true?

I tend to take anything that fat bucket of lard says with a grain of salt...although he usually does know what he's talking about with the Pens. If a major move does happen, though, his ego is going to go through the roof, and that will make him unbearable to listen to.

Because he knows the deal Shero wants for said player and that the deal is, in fact, a definite go...

And you know Crosby, Malkin, and Letang are untouchable.

So that puts Staal, Fleury, or Orpik on his "reveal."

it would be a major news if they move Orpik,

and yes he said that MAF will have a great game 4 (just like he says all the time and when finally true he just gloats)

Orpik hasn't been happy playing the offensive system DB has put in place.

I wouldn't be surprised one bit if Orpik was moved in the off-season and Staal is always going to be on the feasible side of things, especially with him being due for a new contract in 2013. I have no doubt that Crosby and Malkin can co-exist together...but Staal would have a legitimate gripe if he ever wanted a bigger offensive role...and with him due for a new contract in 2013 I can see him wanting that sooner rather than later. Fleury seems unlikely...you don't sell a goalie at their lowest possible point...especially with literally no one else in the system. Madden probably is pulling this from his ass, like he does with most things...but it's speculation that wouldn't surprise me. A team having this good of a regular season having such an implosion in the playoffs isn't going to start the following season with a nearly identical line-up without facing serious public outcry. Asham, Park, & Johnson can't be the only guys on the out pile.

As said numerous times before...Crosby, Malkin, and Letang are off the table even under the worst circumstances.

Pretty logical . . .

I thought maybe Malkin for a moment, but I think Mario sees Malkin a lot like Jagr or, put another way, as the second to last guy he'd ever consider allowing to be moved. Then again, Malkin on the market, after this regular season, would be one of the biggest bidding wars in a long, long time.

Staal makes some sense because of his contract situation and the fact that he just put together an awesome season. Couple those two things together, and we could probably get a kings ransom. I really don't want to see the guy leave though.

I think Shero would listen to offers for Staal. Doesn't mean that he'd accept. Doesn't mean that he'd sell for anything less than the type of return where he could say 'no regrets'. But, I think he'll listen, and that in itself would be a change.

I think Orpik actually is 50/50 to be moved. On the other hand, I'm not sure that moving say Orpik and Martin and otherwise standing pat is enough 'change'.

Is this the end of zombie Shakespeare? i mean Cardboard Orpik.

Staal wont be going because of Crosby's health. Obvious answer is Orpik.

Well, here is your most likely source of MM's "breaking news" and the possible candidate....

Have heard from multiple people Staal not content to remain in current role much longer. He could be No 1 center in a lot of cities.

Nor me, which is why I prefer the idea of a coaching change and moving Orpik and Martin.

That said, what would you call, in theory, 'a kings ransom' for Staal?

BTW, for you and others in general, what type of return do you think Orpik gets out there?
