Its only the last four who get re-seeded, correct? IE ECF and WCF draft positions change.

Red Line Report's latest has Teravainen at 3. I don't think I'd go that far but he is closer to the top group of forwards than the rest. Vasilevski at 10. His U18 performance wasn't anywhere close to his play at the WJC (the early dominant part anyway).

Yeah I read that last night. Interesting that he mentions if in top ten, then you like to trade down.

Nice read. Still wondering whether we take Grigorenko is he falls to us. What was Gaunce like the last time someone here watched him? Will Faksa fall to us?
So many questions. Should be a fun draft.

Yeah, I agree if you're in the market for a defenseman. It's possible that Maatta, Lindholm, Ceci & Pouliot wind up as good or better than Reinhart & Trouba. But if you're a team like Carolina that's probably partial to taking a forward then there isn't that continuity in quality from the top ten to 11-20 when it comes to high upside forwards.

If they can get one of those D at 16 to go along with Faksa or Teravainen at 11 it would be a pretty solid haul.

I'd take Trouba if he was there at 11, but I doubt it.

Lindholm is awesome, underrated late riser.
Would be a good pick at 16th overall. Good chance he falls there too.

Yeah, re: Vasilevski, I wouldn't want the Caps to use early picks on goalies. It's such a crap shoot. I'd rather them spend all picks starting with the 3rd on goalies, eventually one will pan out

Over/under on London Knights drafted by the Caps: 2.5

What'll it be?

Makarov would be a good pick in the 3rd/4th if he falls that far.

@NBTW Hopefully 0.

I want to stay far away from Athanasiou

I really like Czechs for no reason other than that my family is Czech, for people in the know would it be too much of a reach for the Caps to get Hertl at their current draft position? Seems like he's done pretty well playing professionally in Czech Republic as an 17/18 year old. Just won rookie of the year I believe, as reported in the main board thread dedicated to him.

Pretty good looking 2C prospect if you ask me.

He seems to maybe be more in the 20-30 range but I could see him going in the mid-to-late teens if a team really believes in his upside. I was impressed by his hockey IQ at the WJCs and there isn't a wealth of projectable top six forward talent.

Maatta profile from NHL.com along with links to others. He seems to be getting elevating his game throughout the playoffs. The deeper London goes the more he may have a chance to sneak into the top ten. London has a quite a few draft-worthy players so there's a chance it's over but I'll say under. Somewhat related...I read that London's current opponent, Kitchener, was doing Washington trolling of TB's system to London's passive forecheck. #HunterHockey

London also swept their way to the OHL finals last night in finishing off Kitchener. Maatta had 1+2, giving him 19 points in 14 playoff games.

Faksa finished with just six points in 13 playoffs games, no points in the London series and just three points in nine games after returning from a concussion. There were reports of him being under the weather as well but I wonder if that doesn't help put him in play at 11 potentially. Teravainen's rise and Rielly's return from injury help, along with the play of Reinhart & Maatta. Those last two could wind up with a lot of late exposure in the Memorial Cup.

I'd be for the Caps taking the Boston pick. Keep stocking the root cellar.

Some nasty: Matteau, Wilson, Samuelsson, Sissons.

I'd still pass on Boston's second but maybe there's someone in that range they want to target. Or use it as ammo to move up.

At 11 The Caps should get a quality player. Maybe GMGM will shock the hockey world be moving into a top 3 pick. Honestly this is a smart move. They could use a top 6 forword or a top 4 d man to solidify the longterm future, next 4-5 years, of deep playoff teams. They have the picks and trade bait to pull it off
