12/5/04 - Pens vs Norfolk: GDT

This is a big division game. Fleury is back in net. Radio feed is working today. Grace is talking right now about playing desperate and I agree. This team seems a little laid back. We need a few things right now, IMO.

1. Play with more intensity.
2. Convert power plays. We have been doing better with this lately.
3. Stop taking stupid penalties. They need to be better at penalty killing, and to do that, the first step is to eliminate all the PPs the other team's get.

Grace says Craig Patrick was interviewed for the last game, and they will replay it because the people on the internet didn't get to hear it.

Eaves is 7-10 days away, Grace says he might be ready by next Friday or Saturday.

Yes Eaves could be good to go on Friday. I've been waiting for him to make his debut with the WBS.

Goal 1 - 0 Norfolk

Apparently the goal went off of a Penguin.

The Pens really have got to play with some intensity. This is an important division game, and Norfolk even played yesterday.

Power play goal for the Pens!

Wilkes-Barre/Scranton - Erik Christensen (powerplay) (Ross Lupaschuk, Rob Scuderi) 6:45

Big goal for the Pens. Now hopefully they get some momentum.

I thought it was too. I waited for the boxscore to update since Grace didn't say. Plus I was submitting a post (in the Lounge) when they scored, so I had to wait because of the flood control.

Pens seem to be playing better since the goal.

Nice to see Christensen on the score sheet.

Edit: as for the team, I think part of it also is that they just need some bounces as well. I've only listened to a couple of games, but that's the impression I got.

Admirals score.

The guy was wide open.

Christensen was moved up to the third line and has been playing well.

Yes I too was waiting for Grace. But I then listen out for the PA announcer.

Babchuk cross checks Murley in the face. Murley is down.

Unleash Sgroi.

Edit: Pens will get a PP. Murley is ok, I heard the crowd clap and Grace didn't say anything.

Norfolk kills it off. 3:28 to go in the first, 2-1 Admirals. Shots are 13-4 in favor of Norfolk.

Also, as I repeat what Grace is saying, Norfolk is a very good team in the first period. They have scored a lot of goals in the first period.

Pens escape to the locker room down 2-1. They need to regroup. Badly. That was a mess.

I've never seen him play but I don't ever hear him making stupid mistakes with the puck.

Yes I think he can. Downlow he's hard to handle cause of his size. He backs alot of defencemen of the blueline, cause well he's Sgroi. I wouldn't be surprised if he gets a look in with the pens. Hell he will bring more to the table then pylon #23 could ever bring.

with his size and strenth he should be good in front of the net, if he has any kind of touch. and if he can keep up with his skateing he would be grate! but i don't think he plays that much in the ahl, so i'm wondering.

Yes he's not the best puck handler and his defensive prowess an't the best either. But his main job is tough guy and he's pretty good at that. That alone beats out pylon #23

Who do you guys think from WBS that can step in and play in the NHL right now. I'll post my list after I've seen a few of yours.

GOAL !! Ouellet
