Faceoffs

It's been clear how important faceoffs are just by watching this series. I wanted to check out our numbers.

Goc leads the playoffs with winning 68.2%!
All our other centers are under 50
Interesting stat. Versteeg has won 7 of 9 for 77.8%!

Goc is easily the most underrated player on our team. I absolutely love his game and his contract. Brilliant acquisition by Mike Santos.

I believe it. I went to game 1 and every time Weiss was kicked from the face off circle Versteeg would take his place, and won a few draws quite handily.

Didn't Steeger play center in a pinch with the Blackhawks?

ON NY's WFAN this morning they had the Jersey play by play guy...was raving about Goc. Talked about guys who turn it on for playoffs.

Weiss is good in the offensive zone, last game 6 in 6 and overall the team 11 in 14 in the offensive zone! That help so much for the PP.

This used to be a huge team weakness as recently as two years ago.

DEFINITELY. We use to have such an issue with them.

Over the course of an 82-game season, you lose site that things like faceoffs can win you games, but they really can. Soupy's GWG only happened last night because we won the faceoff. In a playoff series, you really see the value of things like this and why SO many people put emphasis on these kinds of stats.

Tallon and Santos have done a great job bringing in guys who can win those key draws. Goc is a monster in the circle and I love the way he's playing now.

Goc is the classic example of a player who doesn't have much flash, but at the end of the game you look at the box score and its something like 1 PT, +2, %56 FOW.
