Another one Slater Koekkoek (shoulder)

The injuries to Yakupov and Galchenyuk certainly aren't isolated incidents this season in the Canadian Hockey League. There are several other top blue-chip players watching from the stands. In the Western Hockey League, Everett Silvertips defenseman Ryan Murray (high ankle sprain), Edmonton Oil Kings defenseman Griffin Reinhart (shoulder) and Moose Jaw Warriors defenseman Morgan Rielly (season-ending knee surgery) have been shelved, although Murray resumed skated on Tuesday.

In the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League, Halifax Mooseheads right wing Martin Frk hasn't played a game this season due to a concussion.

Yakupov is out 7-10 days with a back injury. All concussion tests were done and he came back with no concussion-like symptoms. He is out Thursday/Friday games, and questionable for Sunday's game.

Zemgus Girgensons

The 2012 NHL draft injury bug has been a repeat offender for Zemgus Girgensons, this time claiming the USHL’s top prospect for the season.

The Fighting Saints announced yesterday that Girgensons, who is 16th overall in Future Considerations’ April rankings, suffered a fractured jaw that will keep him out for the remainder of the Clark Cup playoffs. Girgensons will have his jaw wired shut for a minimum of four weeks

If you're going to have a serious injury in your draft year, a broken jaw is probably just about the best you can hope for. No long-term risk from a hockey standpoint, and you might get a pass at combine interviews.
