Montreal/Colorado

To Montreal: Matt Duchesne

VS

To Colorado: Andrei Markov, Danny Kristo and 2nd pick NSH

MTL'S POV: Duchesne is good center with physical, offensive quality can play PP/PK and young. Markov is useless with Subban play well. Kristo is great prospect who can take a spot next year.

COL'S POV: Markov is a good d-man top 4 can play 20mins+ per game. Avs have enough center to trade Duchesne but they need some winger Kristo could fit in Avs system

Flame away

Really? Go read the actual MATT DUCHENE thread.. That offer is not enough and almost insulting.

Yeah, that's the funniest part. "Markov is useless with Subban play well" and then "Markov is a good top 4 d-man"

The proposal is brutal, better if it's just locked by the mods.

Markov was a top 10 defence man in the NHL before he had knee trouble, we'll see next season how well he can play on his knee.

It make me remember at the 2009 draft, some Montreal fan suggested we trade Komisarek UFA right for the 3th overall......

well, we still didnt change too much

I apologize to Colorado fans for the other Montreal fans who put these kind of proposal.

Does Kristo have some sort of superstar potential that I'm not aware of? Because if not...

Montreal trades away a guy who has played 1/4 of the past three seasons, a prospect and 2nd round pick for Duchene? You are definitely insane Mrinsane.

On behalf of all Habs fans, I apologize to the fanbase of the Colorado Avalanche for this useless drivel.

yeah, they'd need to add a lot more to get Markov.

let's make it clear... everyone here is saying that a 20 goal scorer is worth a former top 10 D who is just hitting his prime as a D.

No, everybody is saying that a young, potential franchise center, who had a 67 point sophomore year is worth a hell of a lot more than an injury prone, past his prime 33 year old D, who could be one more knee injury from retirement.

Glad to clear that up for you. Not sure which thread you were reading.

When you can't spell Duchene's name right, you probably don't know what he's worth

like i said, 20 goal scorer. he hasn't done much so far in the league. while everyone agrees the proposal is stupid, and for the reason you say (Markov is a bad trade option), it doesn't change that Markov is more talented than the so-called centerpiece of the trade. It's also pretty obvious that Duchene cannot do anything all alone, needs wingers to truly compete, so that says right there that he is not a franchise center.

Due to Markov's injury issues over the last 3 seasons, this is a firm "no" from Colorado.

If Markov comes back to form and healthy and stays that way next year, it will be a firm "no" from Montreal.

It is not an insulting offer, it is a poorly timed offer. Duchene was injured and didn't do anything serious this year, either.

The only reason either team thinks about this type of deal (and both teams would reject it at this point in time) is because both players are coming off injuries and both players have the potential to return to form if healthy. Part of the problem is that Markov is older than Duchene, so that factors into the healing of the injury and the value of the player.

So, to be clear, Colorado and Montreal say "no" because of the injuries to both players and the need to see how both players do next season. A healthy Markov, though, will command more than a healthy Duchene if both return to previous form.

I agree, but pls tell me you don't think Duchene brings more to a team than Markov.

No.

Not going to go into more depth than that on this terrible proposal.

Let's just delete this proposal and pretend it never happened.
