It's been weird lately but yeah, I'm pretty sure unless John Moore is deceiving me.

Edit: Guess he did, that's what I get for choosing to make dinner and only listen to the game instead of watching.

This just in: Drouin is pretty good

He's been better than Nate so far. Has he ever taken a big step

Is it just me or has Mackinnon just not been the same though?

Are you gonna trust the Q site or John Moore lol.. Both are inaccurate. Drouin had 2 points, but that was a nice shot by Ryan.

Eh. The two games I watched I didn't think he looked as good as last year in the playoffs.

If you're talking about tonight than yes, he didn't look impressive tonight. I've watched all the games this year so far and today's was his worst, as he only had a few outbreaks of greatness. I think he's shiftier, more defensively aware, grittier... He isn't killing the league like some thought, but he's still explosive and making himself a better prospect IMO.

I would say so. Watching Drouin with the puck is worth the price of admission alone. So shifty and in control of the play. His vision is second to none and is a lot faster than last season. 100+ points is a possibility for sure, as he probably isn't what HC will look for in December.

Do you think Mackinnon's effectiveness is lessened due to the fact Drouin is now the set up man while Mackinnon has more of a finishing role on that line instead of the go to role he had last season when he played with I think it was Critchlow and Ashley throughout the year. I'm sure the balance on the first two lines would be more dynamic if those two were separated, but not having seen a game I'm guessing from what I read they compliment each other well.

No I wouldn't say MacKinnon's effectiveness is lessened... But I will agree with you that they should be split up. Not because they don't play well together, but Drouin is good enough now to make players around him better. He can dominate the play and skate much faster. I still think MacKinnon will be the "go to guy". He played with Critch, Ciampini, Ashley, Frk throughout the season, and started clicking with Drouin in March...

I think they complement each other nicely, since they are each shifty in their own right. Maybe put MacKinnon with Ryan and Ciampini to try and get them going and spread the wealth.

He simply has the puck on a string. The pass to Frk over the stick for the PP goal was awesome. Also a great feed to Nate who could not bury it.

How is attendance in Halifax? Have to imagine that these 2 kids put on quite a show for home fans.

Weekend games I believe have got 8500 or so. I'm not there tonight so not sure how it is tonight (listening on the radio). Last Tuesday there was only 5800 but that's expected throughout the week. But as the season keeps going, we should get some sellouts, I'd imagine. Alot of casual fans probably don't even know who Drouin is but once he gets his name out there more and more, it likely will bring more fans (along with having the top goalie for the 2013 draft)

This kid is boss. If he keeps this up..don't know what's gonna happen at the draft.

(And I thought Huberdeau was going to be the next Quebecois superstar..)

Despite the hot start, I still don't see him cracking the top 4. Teams will go for the centers at first and Seth Jones is way too good.

5th is possible.

He should go top 5 imho, but I agree this is a deep draft

Drouin is a natural center and might even be better suited for it, he will likely be Halifax #1 center next year with Nate in the NHL

I believe he can play center, RW and LW. His hockey IQ is off the charts, as well.

That is true, I should have said BIG centers (Monahan and Barkov).

He's not small either, same height as Yakupov, Crosby and Giroux

Monahan was easily the 2nd best forward behind Mackinnon for me but now I'm starting to wonder
