Yeah, it sucks. This reminds me of losing Doan early in the 2012 Red Wings series. We're already talent-starved, do have to lose our few important pieces this early?

It's a very slow wheel of justice. What should take 12 hours usually takes 2-3 days.

Lost in all this was the obvious non-call for a 4 minute high sticking major when Chipchura took a stick to the chops. Did the Coyotes even get a PP after the Hossa hit (besides the one on Bickell at the time of the hit)?

I don't know if I'd say Langkow has been Robert Lang-slow, but he does seem to have a hard time staying with it when the Blackhawks try to speed up the game. You can tell he's a smart, solid veteran otherwise, which makes it all the more frustrating.

Isn't Ryan Hollweg still under contract here? Would anyone else find it hilarious if we called him up to replace Torres?

Cripes. And just the other day, I was thinking how cute Lisa Halverstadt looks in her profile picture. When did they start letting attractive people into journalism school?

I think the point is the player had the additional 2/3rd of a second beforehand to determine whether he would be able to get there in time to make the hit. TSN reports are the hit was 0.16 seconds late.

The standard they've used in the disciplinary videos is hitting a player 20 frames after the puck leaving is okay, 21+ frames isn't, though they have made some exceptions to that in specific cases. The video feed is 30 frames per second, so over 0.67 seconds is considered late. Have seen TSN reporting the Torres hit was in the 25th frame, which is where they're getting the 0.83 seconds from [25/30]. Not egregiously so, but late hit none the less.

Are you talking about in the game period? I honestly don't think they did. We had the shortened one because of the events at the end of the 2nd period.

Hawks had 2 power plays, then the 3rd shortened one at the end of the 2nd period.

I'm not going to complain much, I'll leave that to the Blackhawks fans. I can see missing some things, but that high stick was a little bit of - it was right in front of the net.

Oh well, we won the game. On to the next one!

Hollweg was hurt most of the year, he has been working as Portlands 2rd play by play guy for much of the year.

Bolduc will take torres spot most likely

replace one nuck with another.

I can't believe it because of the way he came off his feet.

When you come off your feet after contact it looks different from that. He came off his feet technically after the hit yes, but he came off his feet because of the way he lined up Hossa, not because of contact.

If you leave your feet after a clean hit, that's one thing. Search the interwebs for pitcures of hits by one Johnny Boychuk. He's a guy who knows how to hit people right -- clean, direct, to the chest, and HARD. And sometimes because of the impact, he comes off the ice. But that's not what Torres did. He left his feet as a direct result of the motion he used to lay the hit -- if he'd missed, he'd have still left his feet. That's the difference.

Created a new thread to discuss Torres now that the NHL has made their initial announcement and moved some posts there. Let's carry on the discussion there rather than keep the GDT running.

Lost in all this is how much Pyatt was working it towards the end of the game. Much rep!

Actually, I thought Vrbata had a good Game 2. He had 7 shots, some of which were good chances. Crawford is having a good series, minus that one brain fart. I didn't notice him a whole bunch in Game 3, but he doesn't hold us back on our end at least.

Even when he's not scoring, Vrbata is smart enough to be reasonably effective in other ways.

The only problem is that, with Torres gone, Tippett will have to dress some call-ups if Korpikoski and Hanzal can't play. Given that the Coyotes were hoping that their depth forwards would outplay the Hawks', the idea makes me nervous.

Ignoring the hits/physicality, removing Torres from the line up is potentially a huge problem in that he was one of 3-4 guys with any consistent effort at all. Korpi was another one. They lost 2 of the guys who actually played with the effort I expect in the playoffs and I'm not seeing who is going to step up and fill that void given the teams track record the last two years. Cause it's the exact opposite. They are STLL doing it games 1 and 2.

Can someone create an Emma Stone picture with a Phoenix Coyotes jersey or shirt? I probably could but wouldn't know how to attach it in here for future luck.
