Seeing Richards hoist the cup would all but destroy me inside. Watching Brown hoist the cup would be a swift groin shot. Probably with the same purse he shares with Perry.
If NJ loses, I'm retiring from the rest of the finals.
I have problems rooting for each of the teams left too..
LA
Against: Dustin Brown.. A diver of that magnitude shouldn't be anywhere near the cup.
For: They play pretty aggressively, and Kopitar is fun to watch
Phoenix (no longer in it):
Against: Boring to watch, no top-flight players that are fun to watch
For: I'd be ok seeing Tipp and Smith win a cup
NYR
Against: Don't want Richards to win a cup after the way he treated the Stars.
For: Fun to watch, lots of highs & lows
NJD:
Against: If ZP wins a cup in NJ, he's less likely to sign in Dallas , Hate to see them rewarded for the stupid money paid to Kovalchuck
For: ZP and Zajac are fun to watch.
So really, in the end, I don't care.. I guess that LA vs. NYR would be best for ratings, so I guess that's something to go for..
Richards doesn't deserve a cup at all. It took one OT for me to develop a huge animosity towards LA. Guess I'm stuck with the Devils, who I've never really cared for.
I hate the Kings and their baby diving captain as much as the next guy but if they win a Cup it won't really bother me. They built that team, in my opinion, the right way. They drafted and developed their core, have one of the best farm systems in the league which has allowed them to trade for key players from the outside, and seem to have competent up and coming players who are able to play a supporting role to the big guns.
The same could mostly be said about the Rangers but I just don't like that organization; I like a lot of their players but I developed a dislike for them a while back and can't see that dissipating anytime soon. They're also an East Coast big market team so there's that to root against as well. Despite the fact that I actually have a semi-passionate dislike toward the Kings (probably more than any other NHL team), they feel more like a family member you can't stand rather than an outsider you distrust.
Don't care about getting Parise but Richards failing at defense to keep the puck from getting in was the key signature to this night!
Henrique was Girardi's man. He totally gaffed in OT.
Doesn't matter. The team was gassed from the previous series. Being 0-7 when up in the playoffs is inexcusable. The lack of scoring depth killed them, and not having a solid bottom D-pair overworked the top 4 guys. They couldn't handle the Devils fresh legs and tough forecheck.
Future's bright though. Glad I finally got to experience a playoff where I was rooting for a team deep into May.
