my proposed team olympic team:

Zetterberg-Backstrom-Eriksson
Sedin-Sedin-Silfverberg
Franzen-Steen-Landeskog
Stalberg-Berglund-Alfredsson

karlsson-enstrom
Hjalmarsson-OEL
Hedman-Brodin
Kronwall-Edler

Lundqvist
Lehner
Markstrom

Forward crop is good
Defense group is world class
Goalies is a big meh.

No SEL players please.

Steen is in complete beast mode. Whether he plays in a scoring or shutdown role he should play top six minutes on this team. Berglund on the other hand, I think he might be an odd man out.

Yes, Berglund has to play center, and I don't like the idea of having him on the 3rd or 4th line. Steen is a good player to have, he can play center or wing, top-6 or bottom-6. I'm leaning more towards top-6, I think he and Zetterberg could work well together.

I forgot about Nyquist. I thought he should get a spot on the team based on his skillset alone. He is lighting up AHL also.

Kronwall 7th D man? Don't think so...Kronwall has looked good fyi so far. And he is experienced. Franzen has looked piss poor not fit enough for playing through a whole game, looks gassed after 1,5 periods.

Other on the wings: Ericsson has been great, he has really elevated his game, of course though he's a bit of a NHL rink d-man, but still, he's a lot more mature as a player than what he was just a couple of seasons ago, its pretty obvious. Alfie has been pretty good, but can do better.

I thought Kronwall was garbage last olympics in vancouver. With all the quality D-men Sweden possesses no one except for Karlsson and Enstrom should be safe.

Enström is pretty far from being safe obviously becouse he was'nt invited to the camp. But of course, as far as i know he's been in top condition thus far this season.

I think mobility will be key on the bigger ice surface though, so I would probably pick Karlsson, OEL, Kronwall, Edler, Hedman and Enström. Then possibly Grossman, Hjalmarsson or even S. Kronwall as the seventh. Adam Larsson and/or Brodin could definitely play their way onto the team by 2014 too. In fact, I would love for Adam to break out because he's a righty which a defense like mine would otherwise lack outside of Karlsson.
Pff Enström, is that midget really that good? I don't follow Winnipeg at all but...I allow myself my prejudice.

It's how the player fair during THIS season that matter, not what happened during a couple of games 4 years ago.

Perfect as an extra player as of now. Thought he would make this team (as a second line winger) when I watched him in the playoffs last season, looks like he isn't given the chance to do so.

I'm 100% sure Kronwall will be in Sochi. Lidström, Lundqvist and the Sedins were underwhelming in Vancouver as well.

Yeah, he has the experience as well which cant really be said about or D as a whole, although a guy like Hjalmarsson for example of course has some premiere playoff experience.

Right now on D I have OEL, Karlsson, Enström, Kronwall, Hedman, Brodin, Hjalmarsson, Ericsson. Another year and I think Lindholm would've made it.

I'm so jealous of Sweden's young defense group.

Checked out the latest positions our players occupy in the NHL right now:

From left to right:

Sedin – Sedin – Eriksson
Zetterberg – Bäckström – Alfredsson
Steen – Berglund – X (shooter, Silfverberg?)
Silfverberg – Backlund – X
Johansson – X – X
Landeskog – Krüger – X
Franzén – Hörnqvist – X

- Karlsson
Brodin - Ekman-Larsson
Enström - Hedman
Oduya - Hjalmarsson
Ericsson - Kronwall
Grossmann - Edler

Two of our left forwards might have to play right in Sotchi, Silfverberg and Landeskog possibly. Johansson, Franzén, Hörnqvist battle SEL and KHL forwards.

Another idea is that if anyone of Kronwall and Hjalmarsson goes down with an injury Ericsson or Oduya is replaced by Grossmann or Edler. As usual I believe Hedman is a lock Looking good with Karlsson, Brodin, Ekman-Larsson and Enström right now.

Isn't this harmony or what?

Sedin – Sedin – Eriksson
Zetterberg – Bäckström – Alfredsson
Steen – Berglund – Silfverberg
Johansson – Backlund – Landeskog

Ekman-Larsson - Karlsson
Enström / Brodin - Hedman
Oduya - Hjalmarsson
Ericsson - Kronwall / Edler

What is it that these players below do so well that Victor Hedman can't?

1. Johnny Oduya
2. Jonathan Ericsson
3. Niklas Hjamarsson

It only takes one injury for me to take him, but I just look at our defenders and feel like Edler is good on a lot of things, but probably not necessary. I'd say Edler is our 5th best defender all things considered, and the four of them who are better do the same things as he does. Maybe I'm selling his game short.

We have size and mobility in Hedman and Hjalmarsson. Speed and passing in Karlsson and Enström. Two-way smarts in OEL and Brodin. Leadership and some chemistry in Kronwall and Ericsson.

The two games suspended isn't too significant imo but still a factor.

Johnny is pretty good at the offensive blueline, which I guess Victor might be as well though, and Big E and Hjalle is both reliable in thier own end while also not bad at all offensively.
