When Schenn was a rookie many Leaf fans were demanding he be named captain, now to those same "fans" he is a bum beyond hope. He's 22 years old. Most players are never as good or bad as the masses clamour.

But whatever - it can't hurt him. As some are saying, it's what he needs in order to find some confidence in his game again. Plus, you can never begrudge a player wanting to represent his country.
Good luck Luke
How much "rest" does a 22 year old man need. Actually playing hockey is the best way to get better at hockey. Getting fitter and stronger can be done while actually playing hockey.
Not good...as Burke said when he got here, he doesn't want to be sending his players to the World Championships because it means we're not in the playoffs, but like was said, good experience. Eventually he's going to put it all together.
Also to the people who don't want him going...wtf do you want him to do? Play more golf? He's 22, he needs to be playing in April and May to get an understanding of what it takes to play in the summer time during a long playoff run. I really don't understand what people see in the benefit of NOT playing in tournaments like this. Rest is not good! Keep freakin playing! Also he needs to keep playing just for the fact that he sucked for 2-3rds of the year, having a good tournament may you know...improve his play.
P.S my little rant there isn't directed at you SprDaVE
Perhaps the Oilers will let their GM decide how to approach this situation. Tambellini and Burke must know each other?
The common perception is that the Leafs and Oilers wouldn't really make a deal, but at the end of the day it's about putting your hockey club first - if there is a deal involving the two teams that both teams like, they will make it. They are all smart man.
As for Schenn - I'm indifferent. Love the kid, and am a believer in him; think he can become a solid player in this league. However, wouldn't be at all upset if he got traded this summer if it meant landing a substantial piece for the future (ie. that #1 center or #1 goalie. In fact, I have a funny feeling Burke will be using both him and Kadri as his main two bargaining chips in the summer).
Basically - Schenn isn't untouchable. If the right offer is available, trade him, but don't actively look to sell the guy.
