I'm not one to get jerseys and much parafernelia, but my wife gave me a Strasburg jersey a couple Birthdays ago, so I'm pressing her for a Caps jersey this time around.
I had a thought and wanted to know if people think it's lame or will be rendered obsolete in the very near future.
I wanted to get a customized #77 with Carlzner on the back. I've loved these guys for a while now, and hope that they remain Caps for a long time. Is this jeresey idea lame?

Not much of a collector, but I have my Scott Stevens ca 1984 replica jersey (they were virtually impossible to make/get then), my 1983 first playoff game pom pom and a wall pennant from 1979.
I may get a red jersey at some point, probably Backstrom or Alzner...I feel so left out at home games these days.
Red Ovie jersey
Winter Classic Ovie jersey
Winter beanie
Various pennants/foam fingers
1980's era white jersey
Old Tyme Hockey Caps red sweater
T-shirt signed by the entire 1997-98 SCF team. Used to play youth hockey out of Piney Orchard Rink in Odenton (old Caps practice facility) and we practiced right before they came on. A guy on our team's dad managed the rink and we got to watch their practice and meet with the team in the locker rooms after. Really cool experience even though I wasn't a Caps fan at the time. Had just moved to MD that year and was still searching for a team after the Whalers peaced out of CT.
Tons of signed pucks and cards, but my favorite things are a team signed stick from the 2001 Caps or so, and sticks Konowalchuk and Kolzig approached me and gave me at practice many many years ago.
My first Caps practice, I was probably 8 years old (mid 90's) and I was with my parents and my brother. Konowalchuk came to us and asked us to wait there. He came back about 5-10 minutes later with a stick for each of us.
Some years later I asked Kolzig for a stick, he said he couldn't give any more away. As he walked a little more into the crowd on the way to the locker room, he gave a stick out to a kid just like me. Olie turned around and saw that I saw that, he gave me his only other stick he had with him at the time.
Bondra used to sit with the kids as he took off his stakes and leg pads, Pretty much every practice.
Ast. Coach Tim Hunter liked to dump ice shavings on the fans standing near the glass, and in more recent days, Semin likes to shoot the puck at the glass right in front of unsuspecting fans and get a chuckle out of the scared reaction.
Robert Lang was very nice, Jaromir Jagr wasn't. Ken Klee and Brenden Witt used to chase eachother around the ice. Craig Billington was always really nice.. List goes on. What an experience growing up w/ the Caps.
