I met Randy (Omalycat) three or four times. He purchased tickets off me several times, including one of the CBJ playoff games. The last time we talked was before Christmas, as he bought tickets from me so he could take his wife and daughter to go to the New Years' game versus the Caps.

Super awesome guy...just one of those guys you meet and like. Very sad to hear of his passing.

Omalycat had been a member here since i've been here. One of the real good guys on the board here.... Terrible news, prayers for his family.

Very sad. We're pretty close in age.

I booked a doctor's appointment a few hours ago as I figure I should get a basic checkup for the first time in years.

Guys, it's not a sign of weakness to get your ass to a doctor now and then. We're like cars. The older we get, the more maintenance we need. It's hard to be macho when you're six feet under.

Always loved to see him post and really missed him when he went on hiatus for a few years there. Part of the old guard around here and will be missed greatly. Great sense of humor on him too, sharp guy. Man, I feel like I did after I found out Andyman on CD101 died...it won't really hit me till I don't see him post (JF) or hear him (Andyman)

RIP ShelleyFan45

I posted this in my other post in the thread in the lounge but I will post it here as well. I have a friend who eats unhealthy and his Dad told him to get a health check. So he ended up going because of his Dad and the doctors found leukemia. Had his Dad didn't say anything, he wouldn't have gone to the doctor. Doctors said he would have randomly collapsed.

Yeah, if you were a Chill fan, Andyman was part of your life. Sometimes to give myself solace, I think that the good ones occasionally get to cut in the front of the line.

Indeed, growing up with the Chill and then hearing about Andyman's death (after moving away, a friend of mine was a close friend of Andy's) was very tough. RIP Andy.

Not to derail this thread about JF Omalycat. To his daughter, Danielle: Thank you for informing us of this incident ... your father was a great fan of the game, and a poster that I enjoyed around the boards. I posted on the main thread as well, about being the father of two young daughters - I take your advice to heart, thank you for sharing.

RIP, JF ... I hope your entire family finds peace after such a tragic loss.

Weird, this internet. Never met the guy in person, but I am fighting back tears at this news. Prayers for Danielle and the family. And peace, JFO.

And you probably knew Kenneth too. He usually sat 3 rows in front of you.

Yeah I saw that. Bunch of kids down front. I'm in row D which is second row. He was in first?

So sad... Just a kid.

Ah ok, yes. One row in front of you. I'm in H. I gave Kenneth my spare ticket for the final game. He sat right next to me 10 days ago. Hard to comprehend.

Terrible news. As many of you, I never met him, but he always seemed to be one of those posters who really stood out in a way that's hard to describe – intelligent, certainly, but seemed to really "get it". Not to mention, I could tell he had an appreciation for artists like Dan Auerbach that I can relate to, so he always was a poster that I personally kept note of whenever he was active. I believe he played a little bit of music as well, (I think he played guitar? I hope I'm not making that up but I swear I saw him say something about that in an OT thread) and you can never have too many people who know how to play an instrument IMO.

Very sad to hear. Condolences to his family and everyone who knew him.

Either in this thread or in the other thread, a poster did mention that they did meet up. Went onto to say that JF did share some stories about his time when he was in a band. So good chance that he did play the guitar.
