I think the more pressing matter is the way this team comes out of the gates on Thursday. Its a big swing game for both teams, and we cant keep having the starts we had like in games 1 and 3. We know the Devils are probably going to come out fast again, and we just need to match their intensity for the first half of the period, then play Panthers hockey. I think that is more important than who will be starting in goal for us.
Excellent points. Theo never got a chance to settle in. Clemmer likely would have suffered the same fate. Both goalies need to feel the puck.

Regardless despite it not being Theo's fault, clemmer earned it. With that said Dineen is loyal to theo so theo starting game 4 wouldn't surprise or offend me.

Been saying Clemmensen since game 1 -- and I'm no Clemmensen fan either.

Theo was incredible in the first two games, but Clem has been really really solid as well. I dont think Dineen can make a wrong decision here, and I wouldnt be surprised either way

i say sign clemmy and let markstrom win his spot rather than just giving it to him. and if clemmy keeps out performing theo then you keep clemmy, cause theo only has next year left on his contract.

or you can just trade for bernier and end all this talk all together

I actually think that we should re-sign Clemmer, and have Markstrom play another year in San Antonio. There is nothing wrong with him getting more acquainted with the NA game, and he would get most of the games there as well.

I don't think there is a wrong choice here - both have been great.

The point upthread is very valid - Theo hasn't been able to settle into a game because it's been insanity to start these games. I haven't seen last night's game yet so I can't comment on how Clemmer looked, but I don't blame Theo for our loss in Game 1.

I'd be happy with either decision, but if it were me - I'd start Clemmer.

Due to his stellar overall play this season, the thought has crossed my mind about having Tallon re-signing him. However, I do want Markstrom to play with the big club if he's ready too. Quite a tough decision that will have to made during the off-season and into training camp depending on the circumstances.

Clemmensen won't re-sign unless if it's something like what pb said to keep Markstrom in the A for another year.

I don't think that's going to happen.

Clemmer probably signs with some team and maybe starts more games, especially if he plays well and showcases himself in the playoffs.

Theodore is here to stay next year. He's a better goalie than Clemmer. Also, he has more value on this team than he would have in a trade.

It'll be Theo/Markstrom, 1A/1B most likely.

If depth is needed, it's not a big deal. The NHL has shown over recent years that there's not much difference between an NHL backup (Clemmer) and a good AHL goalie (for example, Dov Grumet-Morris who is currently in the organization).

Clemmensen! He would have gotten the not if we had our first game on Wednesday. That was not the case, so Theo got the nod.

Game 1: Brutal start by our Defense, Theo kept us in it! Still 3-0

Game 2: Theo wasnt that spectacular but gave up goals early in the 3rd..Making it a 3-2 game. NERVES!

Game 3: Theo had no fault on either of these goals but he certainly didnt make a game changing save. Therefore he got pulled, as got Brodeur

And Clemmer looked terrific in thigame. The Devils dont seem to have him figured out. 5-0 vs NJ and he is coming off great games against Philly and Detroit.

I say, go with Clemmer!

Clemmer is going to have to get a lot of money from Jersey in order for him to play for DeBoer again.

I think Clemm is going to Pittsburgh. Good replacement for Brent Johnson.

Boy, does Theo have any luck? First it was Huet. Then it was Budaj. Then it was Varlamov. Then it was... Clemmenson? He sure has a way firing up his mediocre goalie partners.

The hard part is that the Head Coach can ignore the goalie coach, as it was with the Peg and Caps games.

Translation: Dineen ignored Tallas who told him to start Clemmer since game 1.

At least that's how I read it.

If you guys don't re sign Clemmer next year no doubt it's gonna be an Atlantic division team to troll the Devils. We already have some unlikely goaltenders that we struggle against like Anders Nilsson for the Islanders who hasn't gotten a full time NHL job yet. Ilya Bryzgalov is another. The Devils have scored ONE goal on this guy in 200 minutes + of play this season. TWO shutouts, one game with just one goal, and a relief appearance for Bob where we won, but Bryz shut us out. We've won every game against Bob too, and Alex Ponikarovsky is the only guy to score on Bryz for us this year, and he already has 2 other goals against him this season from when he was with Carolina!

Anyway enough of my rambling. Dineen has to go with Clemmensen. I hate him, but he's the hot hand, and has always been when facing the Devils. It's foolish not to start him.

I place none of the goals on Theodore last night I still think you guys would have won had he not been pulled. It's foolish not to start Clemmensen cause for some reason he's shut down the Devils every time. If I'm Kevin Dineen I'm going with Clemmer. Good thing I'm not Kevin Dineen though.

1) having three goalies- two with one way contracts- fighting for the number one role doesn't work.

2) Theodore has a no trade clause and he's been exceptional this year so noway he gets traded or bought out.

3) In what way is Bernier an upgrade over Markstrom. He's been a backup for two years, big deal.

Theodore was deserving of that start and he was great first two games. You don't start your backup in game 1, even if he's hot.
