Lawson Crouse. Guy is mentioned as a top 7 pick, shouldn't go in top 10 IMO.

Gonna take heat for this but Strome. Guy is good don't get me wrong but they are another 3 or 4 I would take first. I don't think he should be ranked third.

Some see limited offensive upside. Not bust but not 80 points a year in the NHL either.

If my team picked Strome I'd be really nervous. Just have a feeling that he will disappoint in the NHL.

Paul Bittner, Brandon Carlo. I'm also not as high on Strome as others but would hardly call him overrated.

Not saying you guys are wrong and I have only watched him a handful of times but 129 points for a 6'3" centre that didn't play on McDavid's line is staggering for a draft eligible prospect. What gives you guys cause for concern?

There was 5 players with over 80 points this year in the NHL. Does that mean that over 95% of the players in the league have limited offensive upside?

I'm split on strome. His production dropped with mcdavid out of the lineup since they play together on the power play and when mcdavid is in the lineup, he doesn't play against the other teams shut down line. He did still manage to put up impressive points without mcdavid, there was just a noticeable drop.

Definitely needs to improve his skating and learn to play at a faster pace though. Seems a bit laid back a lot of times when he's playing.

All of this changed with oilers fans when they won the draft lottery

Didn't he put up 40 points in 17 games when McDavid had the broken hand? Once again I am all ears here but seems like this kid is going to be special.

Huh?

Feel free to check our draft thread(s). I've been pumping Marner/Provorovs tires all year and questioned us picking Strome.

I doubt a season like this repeats itself.

I don't mind Strome.

I'm just pretty sure he definitely doesn't end up better than Marner or Hanifin.

I think he is underrated. If he can score 65 points a year while being excellent defensively and bringing the size and toughness he should absolutely be a top 7 pick.

He is going to need a Crosby or Malkin as his C to score 65 a year IMO.

Well for one, skating. He's not only sloe but he's actually a poor skater IMO and needs a lot of work. Furthermore, he doesn't play with McDavid. So while McD draws all the top competition and the attention of the coaches, Strome plays secondary players. And in junior hockey that's a big deal. You go from playing Nurse/DeAngelo to Mercier. Decent players but for a guy who's a supposed top pick, his production is certainly inflated by that.

I really wanted Strome on Oilers but felt we would take Hanifin (which only makes sense).

I think Crouse and Zacha will disappoint in NHL.

I might be biased(since I am an Islanders fan) but if he is any better then his brother(and it seems at this stage(pre draft) he is) I wouldn't think twice about picking him. I wasn't sold on Strome when we picked him(I thought we could have done better at the time) but so far he has exceeded expectations
