If Carkner plays hopefully Boyle mans up and goes with him like a real man so this don't gotta happen again.

Carkner and Gilroy are not half as important as getting Spezza and Michalek to score some goals. Gilroy has played decently and has given the puck away less than Spezza has in the playoffs. Like Melrose says, "ya need your stars to be your stars," if that happens Sens win easily.

Easier said then done with arguably the East's best shut-down pairing all over Spez like a wet blanket almost every single shift.

Dude's gotta get back to the basics. Chip, chase, smart short passes and shoot when you have a lane.

In this series, every player is important. We need to score dirty.....no filthy, goals, in order to beat the Rangers. I don't expect Spezza to make the difference anymore.

Has Maclean had a presser yet today so that someone can ask the inevitable question about Alfie?

Or do we just assume 'game-time decision' and doubtful, based on him not being at the morning skate. It's possible they're just letting him rest so that he can take the pre-game skate and go from there?

At this point it's easier to assume he's not playing and try to figure out how to do it with out God.

Butler was flying last game, I don't see him coming out.

He's been on ice for almost 95% of the Panthers goals and is getting massive hate on the Devils board. It's so obvious he's hurt badly.

Unfortunately with the way he plays its only a matter of time his play starts to fall off. I hope it's just an injury and he can rebound next year. Still one of my all time favs.

If Alfie is out, our PP blows. Put Karlsson in Alfie's position and Let Gonch and whoever else run the point. We need someone skilled and patient where Alfie used to play.

Anton Volchenkov was traditionally a rock in the playoffs, so that is a bit unusual; he must indeed be injured or something else is going on.

Volchy was +3, averaging 17:58 TOI during the regular season, in the 3 playoff games he is -2, averaging 12:13 TOI.

Its not like he had a bad game and had his TOI dropped, it has been consistently low which suggests he isn't 100% healthy.

I believe his body is breaking down from all the punishment he has subjected it to over the years and yet another long season. So it really doesn't surprise me he can't carry the load for the Devils like he once did for the Sens. What a warrior he was.

Or he might be slowing down, as his body has been physically abused for several years. Recall the debate on here about re-signing Volchenkov - many were concerned that he wouldn't be very productive for much longer, as many believed he would wear down in a few seasons. This might very well be happening to him.

Hoffman took the morning skate with the Sens, MacLean must be considering him as a possible for tonight.

I realize you tagged it, but I wish people would stop suggesting this crap even in jest - because all it does is further fuel Ranger trolls.

And the answer is obviously and most emphatically no.

I actually think someone should accidentally on purpose run/fall on Lundqvist right off the bat. We haven't go in his grill enough.

Also, Maclean needs to put Spezza and Karlsson out on the PP together. We're just wasting these rare chances instead. It was painful to watch Phillips take a penalty on our PP in the dying minutes on Monday. That was when I knew it was over.

If Alfie is a no go, put Butler up with Spezza.

I disagree, I say run him and hurt him. Who really cares. If you are able to elbow the other teams best player and put him out for the series, and only get a 3 game suspension, then I say it's well worth it. If it means advancing to the next round it's almost foolish not to try. Every other team seems to be doing it. Shaw on Smith is a prime example. Weber slamming Zetterberg, Torres hitting Hossa, Neal attempting a hit on Giroux, everyone is trying to win at all costs.
