Erm.. it was probably me that posted it on THF. Although I dont visit that site often. I'm not sure what's inaccurate? Brett definitely played for schoolboys but not for a GB team thereafter to maintain his Canadian nationality. I'm not sure if the same is true of Brendan, I didnt follow his progress.

Just because they wanted to keep their Canadian eligibility it doesn't mean they don't want to play for GB, it just means keeping their options open, what are the chances of Brett even making the Canadian team? He probably couldn't play for GB because of his own commitments, I believe Adam said NCAA teams don't usually release players to play in lower tier U20 championships, and he probably couldn't play 18's because his season was still going on.

Have you spoken to Brett yourself or do you like seemingly the rest of HFBoards possess the ability to read minds? Where did you get that information? If you are just making assumptions then say that.

There aren't many Euro's in the NCAA to begin with and most of them don't get in there until their 20+. Usually the WJC Div I runs in early December which, if I'm not mistaken, that's exam time (it is for my university in Canada). It'd be tough to juggle the two.

I still don't know if Brett was even invited to any GB camps but he graduated from Michigan State this season. He won't get to represent Canada unless he turns out better than anybodies projection or he plays in Europe then plays in the Spengler Cup.

Pretty dead in here lately not much news to report

I reffed my first testimonial game on the weekend for two guys from the Isle of Wight who were retiring, easily the most fun I've ever had reffing I said to one of the players before the game "See you on the ice" and he replied "I won't see you, I'm absolutely smashed"

Couple or 3 keep the ice all summer.....hockey schools and stuff.
I see my local rink has installed a nice green cover for the box lacrosse season.

Info of a new NIHL (national ice hockey league):

http://www.cardiffdevils.com/news/co...-an-open-mind/

Paves the way for a few more Scottish teams to apply perhaps. If so, perhaps we could see something like an NIHL South/NIHL Midlands/NIHL North/ NIHL Scotland?

I think it will be North+Scotland, Midlands, and South.

The North league will probably be the Scottish teams + Whitley and Billingham.
Midlands could have 2 divisions, with Peterborough possibly moving there.
South stays the same minus Peterborough.

This has happened because it's ridiculous to have teams like Coventry travelling all the way up to Solway.

And from that article it looks like Ragan may change his mind on the ENL Devils.

In other news I received this email from the Okanagan Academy

http://campaign.r20.constantcontact....ugUK7uxg%3D%3D

I've seen Stratford play since U12's and he's always been one of the best players his age, like the article says he's been on the all star team twice at conference weekend. The kid has great size and all-round ability.

Joszef Sladok has signed for the Phantoms:
http://www.peterboroughphantoms.com/?p=1019

While I would rather have had Allen back it is nice to have a Defence first D-man and someone who is willing to drop the gloves after the shambles that was last season!

Gets a hell of a lot of PIMs though, cant say I remember him playing for Romford, although I'm remembering him perhaps jumping Moore a few seasons ago.

So it turns out the re-naming of the ENL is just that, no re-structuring of leagues.

We do have someone here from Glasgow who goes, can't remember his username though.

Braehead have only been in the league 2 years but have managed to ice a good competitive team and finished 6th both years. When you go to your first game you should make sure that it's against one of the top 5 teams: Belfast, Sheffield, Nottingham, Cardiff, Coventry. There's a massive gap between them and the bottom 4 so you might think it's dull if you see them against one of those teams.

Braehead is a nice arena and the atmosphere seems good so you will enjoy it, nothing better than watching hockey live.

He got 7 years for that and served all of it? In England they release actual murderers after that long unless it was someone who made the news our legal system is dominated by policy decisions

Yeah, i went to a bunch of games this year. There is a good core of fans that come every week and when a good team comes up, they can almost fill the building. Great atmosphere and the fans actually seem to know their hockey which makes for a good crowd as well.

Team is a little Jekyll and Hyde at times. It seemed to ride on how hard Jade Galbraith played. When he lolly gags around, the team sometimes follows suit. They just need a couple more top calibre players and they could beat the top teams a bit more regularly. At the moment they have to play their A+ game and hope Belfast/Nottingham/etc have a bit of an off night.

But it is a good night and it is not too expensive. A walk up ticket for a decent seat is 16.

He served 63 of 90 months so 5 & a quarter years of 7 & a half. He played university hockey in Canada (the league is packed with 21+ year olds who are played out their CHL careers) and now he's giving Europe a shot. He captained his Swedish team so it'll be interesting to see what he tries to do in England, skilled player or goon.
