I am such a fair weather fan when it comes to the twins, it's really pathetic. I haven't seriously watched a game all season. It's a shame we have no pitchers, if we did we might have a decent group.

Maybe. Gibson is an unknown and Baker for me is no better than a #3 and has a penchant for the longball. All I'm saying is I don't trust this staff with the current philosophy they work under.

Twins. On a tear. Still have a .3% of making the playoffs and reduced the run differential to only -90.

Assuming they were all healthy, Baker was pretty dang solid last year, and Gibson (was) going to be a stud - maybe ace.

I reckon we'd have at least 10 more wins.

**** MLB

It becomes more and more like the NBA every year. If you aren't a fan of six or seven big market teams there is no point in watching it.

True. I still love my Twins though. Ever since I was a baby and the parades for both '87 and '91 forever live on in my heart. The Twins were the poster boy for what a "small market" franchise could be for the better part of the '00s.

Maybe. Again, Baker is ok, but he's not a losing streak stopper type of pitcher and he likes giving up homeruns, much like Radke did (the 2 are very comparable and yes Radke was an "ace" on some very bad Twins teams, which is why I say Baker wouldn't be anything above a #3 on good teams, I think the same holds true for Radke.)
Gibson has never pitched at the Major League level and there are tons of pitchers who were fantastic in the minors, and couldn't do it at the MLB level (I call them AAAA pitchers) Right now we don't know what Gibson would have done at the MLB level, and while potential is nice, it is merely that until he actually proves he can do it.

I'd be willing to bet ya my bottom dollar not only does Liriano not get traded, but the Twins do NOTHING and again DO NOTHING to blow it up and start the rebuild so desperately needed! I still like Ryan and hope he proves me wrong and hasn't turned into Bill Smith.

I don't get this, the Yankees made a trade, what should they not be allowed to make one? Ichiro is at the end of his career and wants one more shot at a World Series ring, last time i checked the Yankees are winners and they actually care about winning real championships, so why wouldn't you want to go there? Irational hate for teams is stupid, yes hate the system MLB has that allows it with no salary cap, but the Yankees are just playing by the rules to win big, more power to them.

If the Pohlad's had spent actual money during that time maybe they would have done more. 5th richest in American sports and they don't even re-sign their own talent they bring up (which the Twins are hurting at doing now).

I don't like the small market tag anymore because it's an excuse for them, and Minnesota is a top 15 market, and their sporting teams have fans from all the surrounding states and then some.

It's a mid-market and should be treated as such.

I went to my first game at Target Field when I was visiting for my Birthday on the 17th, probably the best stadium I've ever been to, though baseball has gotten ridiculous now, everything is a big production rather than a game.

I was too young to remember 1987 (or at least all of it...). I can't remember if I was there or not, my Dad passed away in 1991 when I was six, and only he would have remembered since my Mom didn't (and she just passed unexpectedly in April).

I remember being at the Vikes/LA Rams playoff game in a box with my Dad in 1988 when I was 4, and going to North Stars games when I was that young, and my last one with him against Calgary in 1990 before he died.

1991 was my team. They basically made my life at that point. My Dad died in February of that year, the North Stars ended up losing in the finals (but at that age I was more of a baseball fan), and the Twins ended up winning it.

I still remember my Mom taking me to a game in Detroit (my parents had separated/divorced in 1989 and I was forcibly moved to Michigan) when the Twins came into town that year and I wrote a blog post about it they day Kirby Puckett died because that summer day in 1991 was the day I got Kirby Puckett's autograph.

The only reason I was able to do so was because my Mom pushed me towards the crowd of kids by the dugout like a Mother duck getting her little one to fly for the first time an because a kid in his teens like a guardian angel looked down and asked me if I wanted to get Kirby to sign it, and I said "yes" and he took my card, reached over the huge pile of kids in his way and got him to sign it for me and gave it back to me.

Still one of the best days of my ****ing life.

I fell out of love with baseball with the strike, and other political ******** with little league baseball, but I've been back into it for years and get the MLB package every year, even when the Twins blow to watch games.

No sporting event will ever surpass what that 1991 World Series meant to me, even if the Vikes won the Super Bowl, I peaked at six.

Now that he is a Yankee I *HAVE* to hate him.

I'm amazed it took as long as it did. The guy had major attitude issues down there upwards of 3 years ago...

Great player when he wants to be, he just doesn't want to be all the time.

The Wolves might be whiter than the Wild at this point.

Add:

Roy, Budinger, Stiemsma, Cunningham, Kirilenko, Shved.

Lose:

Darko, Webster, Wes, Ellington, Beasley, Randolph.
