New D-man at practice

1995 birth d-man Kirkwood (Shawn)? Hefty lad - about 6'3 and 210lbs. Getting a looksee from the Colts and didn't look out-of-place. Native of Sudbury and late of the Soo Greyhounds. Hard to say if he would be added or would replace someone if kept. FYI - Christopher Kravchuk is indeed the son of Igor, former d-man of the Chicago Black Hawks.

Correct name for d-man mentioned above is Sheehan Kirkwood.

Numbers count is 24 plus Pearson, who is not around. Nice effort by the boys in a 5 -2 win vs Kitchener this afternoon before a sparse gathering. Not dressed were Perlini, Eckblad(sick) and Beyers. O'C was great in the offensive end with 1 goal and 3 assists. Kitch didn't threaten our goal much and the 2 they got were pretty chintsy. We had 2 PPs and 2 PP goals! Not sure if the team is set yet, but I don't see any glaring deficiencies!?

Colts roster looks like this:

Goalies: Niederberger, Fotinos
Defence- Ekblad, Lepkowski, Yuill, O'Connor, Laser, Garcia, Webster, (Buonomo likely to be moved)
FORWARDS - Scheifele, Athanasiou, Beyers, Hall, Camara, MacDonald, Bradford, Markkula, Bell, Corson, Perlini, Scott, Brown, Smoskowitz, Fawcett

Other than Buonomo, maybe one move to make between Smoskowitz, Fawcett and Brown.

Surely Fawcett is long gone! He hasn't practiced with the team nor did he play in the Blue/White game. Are you thinking of someone else or just having us on, Pony?

Interesting that Fawcett doesn't show up on the recent printed roster sheets. More disinformation or just non-information?

Surprised a guy as small as Fawcett would be fighting at all. I'm also surprised that no one has really run with the fact that Fawcett is another Orangeville Crusher that was coached by Dale.

Hi Colts
Who are the Barrie Imports for this year?
I loved big Ivan Telegin...I gather that his time in the OHL is now over and he would be AHL bound?

Imports are MAthias Niederberger and lil Samu Markkula from Finland...more of a grinding winger than elite talent.

EDIT: Telegin is off to the A IF Winnipeg sends him down...I think he can make the Jets.

Thanks Racer.
One of my fave prospects, loved following him , from his days in Saginaw.
Sounded like he really put it all together last year in Barrie.
Good luck for the new season

Anyone want to take a stab at what the line-up will look like come the start of the season, with all moves completed.

Telegin is currently in Winnipeg working out at MTS Iceplex (the Jets practice & fitness facilities); if/when the NHL camps are cancelled he will probably report to St. John's IceCaps. There might be an opening on the Jets at right wing and he could theoretically make it out of camp, as Racer stated, but the Jets management definitely take the long developmental view by plan and likely have him penciled in for at least some time spent in the AHL. Telegin would probably have to really impress to earn that open spot.

This picture ran in the Winnipeg Free Press today...

Here's my stab at the starting lineup for the Colts:

Goalie -
Starter - Niederberger
Backup - Fotinos

Defensive Pairings:
1. Ekblad, Lepkowski
2. O'Connor, Yuill
3. Laser, Webster
Garica

FORWARD LINES:
1. C- Scheifele RW-Beyers LW- Athanasiou
2. C - Hall RW- MacDonald LW - Camara
3. C- Bradford RW - Markkula LW- Corson
4. C- Scott RW- Perlini LW- Bell

Scratches - Tyson Fawcett, Cody Brown, D. Smoskowitz (if he's not moved in next week)
Fawcett is injured. Look for Colts to pick up another D early in season.

FYI - Tye Fawcett practiced with the team yesterday and is clearly not a figment of anyone's imagination! Obviously Ponyyou expect Buonomo to be moved. They could keep him until trade deadline and find another backup when Fotinos is starting. They have Blackwood quite handy in Elmira!

Colts still holding onto Gregg Sutch.... Sutch was traded for two picks and one was a conditional 2013 rd pick which I assume is if he plays his overage year. Would be interested to know what round the pick would be. Anyone know?
