that's what we've hoped, but there was some concern that playing in MKE would burn a year off his ELC...unless it's considered some sort of "tryout contract?"

im sure poile wouldn't be foolish enough to burn a year just so he can play for the ads in the playoffs. if he goes to MKE, ill go ahead and assume that no year will be burned. if there is, heads should roll

I still cant imagine that we would burn a year of his ELC just so he can play with the Ads

To be honest, I was thinking of what you said when I posed the question. I haven't seen anyone else say that playing in the AHL burns a year.

Because AHL games don't count towards the triggering of his ELC. Taylor Aronson's contract slid after he spent all of last year bouncing between the Admirals and Cyclones. Chet Pickard's contract slid after playing 36 games with Milwaukee in 09-10. It's only NHL games that matter. He can play five games here before going to Milwaukee to play.

Apparently the Preds will be signing prospect goalie Marek Mazanec to an ELC at some point before next season. Could he be another big European goaltender that Nashville turns into an NHLer?

Milwaukee in the past has used drafted Junior and college players in the playoffs. If signed to a ATO, why would they lose anything off of a ELC? It doesn't make any sense to me. Ryan Parent in 2006 was one. Jon Blum in 2009.

AHL player of the week with back-to-back shut outs (#5 and #6).

As I said in the other thread, I am pretty sure the ATO/PTO is the key... they would technically be on an AHL contract not an NHL contract in that situation.

The 3 of them could have a better game against the Flames. I really wish I could go. First final regular season home game I've missed since the previous lockout.

I really like this prospect, but it sounds like he had a down year.

Exciting news. One of my favorites in our prospect pool

Compares favorably to Tuomo Ruutu. Big, mean powerforward with a nice offensive game.

5-11 198 lbs is big ? ... you might need to look up the definition of "big"

I see him listed as 6' 205. Big doesnt have to mean 6-5 230. He's a stout, solidly built guy.

5'11" 198lbs is packing it on for sure.

Tall does not always = big, btw, especially in hockey.

I would take this with a grain of salt since it's IS we're talking about here, but it was reported by YLE (national public-broadcasting company) too. So I guess it's legit.

Haven't seen any Kärpät games this year (was in the army until January), so I can't really comment, but I'm guessing the lockout players dropped him down in the line-up.

And this is why he's called the bull.

Hoping he pans out for you, was jealous about the pick when it was made and it hasn't changed since.

edit: Totally forgot, I did see one Kärpät game (live too), but IIRC Salomaki was injured and didn't play.

Salomäki's three year's contract

Will Härkä (Salomäki's nickname in Finnish = ox) play next season in Milwaukee or in Finland?

We may not know until later in the summer, but if I had to guess, based on a lot of young talent graduating from the Ads over the last couple years, I'd say Milwaukee.

The rumor in Nashville is that he will come to North America this fall.

With a couple of forwards likely to graduate to the NHL next year (Taylor Beck for sure,) Milwaukee is likely looking to get an infusion of talent.
