3 more to go, hopefully Pens can make me eat crow. I hate next to no faith after how the 3 games unraveled...Now Pens have nothing to lose, play like it ala TB last playoffs/MTL the playoffs last.

Damn im almost starting to get my hopes up. What if MAF can limit himself to only two soft goals a game. What if they learn to keep a lead. What if Martin stays in the press box. etc etc

+ The Pens didn't do anything miraculous tonight, they just finally realized how they can play in their own zone (including Fleury) after the first period

+ Malkin and Staal looked far better than the other three games

+ Martin didn't play

No minuses. Keep it simple on Friday boys.

+ Geno getting on the board
+ Fleury finishing strong
+ Staal Increasing Trade Value with Hat Trick
+ Despres
+ No Martin
+ Pouring it on them, playing every shift like 1-0.

- Refs were better than last time but still bad. Cooke call putrid unless he said something really bad. Like egregiously unprofessionally bad. More likely they just booted him because he is Matt Cooke.

- Need to figure out a way to shut down that PP (assuming we won't be 100% successful at avoiding penalties as long as rag-dolls like Briere and Giroux are out there flailing around). Our PK was great all year. Need to adjust and make it great again. Had a couple good kills I think so that's a start.

- WBS playoff game Friday. **** us all sideways with a sledgehammer if Despres goes back and Martin is in.

+ No goals allowed in the last two periods
+ We planted seeds of doubt in Lavi for both Flyers goaltenders
+ Geno woke up, Staal is heating up

- Cooke getting tossed for being Cooke

I hope our guys now have the confidence to beat this team after this game. We've looked scared on the ice in every other game at some point and now we know that we can beat them. Make a series out of it boys!

I am not saying this because I am glad he is hurt. Just posting info:

Sarah Baicker ‏ @sbaickerCSN
Grossmann is day to day with an upper body injury, per GM Holmgren.

Tim Panaccio ‏ @tpanotchCSN
Grosamann could be concussed

- Penalties...

Thats what the rest of the games will come down to. We can beat them 5-5...they can't handle us when we play fast and physical. Stay out of the box...play hard...and we can do t.

I used to always think it was bs, but I'm really starting to wonder about the whole "we're better as the underdogs" theory.

This is what I took out of it as well. I'm hearing a lot that they played "amazing" and all of that and they really didn't play anything under the level that they played at most of the season in my view. And that's a good thing. If they play PENS HOCKEY, they destroy whatever is in their path. If they stoop down the Phillys level, they lose.

Oh and we get back a 40 goal scorer Friday which is a huge boost!

I thought Crosby was amazing. When the game wasn't out of hand, he was the best player on the ice. Offensively, he went through the motions for the rest of the night but he back checked hard the entire game. LOVED 87's game tonight.

Additionally, Sid needs to be on the 1st unit. The way he was passing the puck tonight was vintage Crosby. Offensively in the first and second, he looked like 06-07 Sid to me.

Geno stepped up in a big way as well. If anybody needed a bounce to go his way, it was Geno and it was huge for him. I liked his game more and more as the game went on.

Tangradi and Despres need to stay in this lineup. I'm sorry but Despres just gets **** done on the back end. Tangradi made smart plays and brought an energy to the table that Adams/Park simply don't have right now. The kid looks hungry.

+ The pride that Sid, Geno, and Staal showed on the ice tonight. Loved every minute of it.

+ Dan Bylsma for (a) adjusting the PP, (b) using 11F/7D (which made line matching impossible and which forced Bylsma to use Sid, Geno, and Staal the right way for once), (c) adjusting the breakout (more support in zone, 'stretch pass or bust' became don't force anything, just wheel it back if nothing is there), (d) sticking with Tangradi after that bad first period pass in the offensive zone. I didn't see a 2 on 1 against, and I think there may have been maybe 3-4 3 on 2's.

+ Tangradi and Despres. If they don't dress on Friday (in a 11F/7D set up), then it's shame on Disco Dan for six weeks.

+ To the quiet guys for really stepping up their compete level. I'm talking Engo, Nisky, Kunitz, Dupuis, and Sully.

+ To TK for NOT being a spaz out there.

+ To Michalek . . . anyone who doesn't think he played an iron man type of game wasn't watching.

+ To the thought/hope that I've already seen Paul Martin's last game as a Penguin.

- To the PK . . . maybe it wouldn't hurt to try Sid or Geno once in a while, because talent and anticipation can help to neutralize a well-oiled PP.

+/- To Flower . . . obviously, he was ******** the bed again, but I thought after that one knuckle puck save in the second where he dropped way to early that he looked like the goalie who was stealing games for the Pens left and right.

+ really liked the pp tonight...a ton more movement through the seam
+ despres played well tonight i thought
+ fleury looked alot calmer after the first period
+ tighter defending off the rush

- too many shots getting through
- PK needs to find solutions

Poor guy. I'm looking for a video from Shanny with a dramatic injury announcing suspensions Kubina and Rinaldo. In my view, losing those two for a game or two hurts more than Grossman having a headache.

Much better job at taking away the center of the ice but there were still a couple break downs there.
