We need more Swedes. Who was our last Swede that could play the game? Naslund? I don't understand why we don't draft them. They are hard working, gritty players.

I think they'll draft Forsberg, if Columbus doesn't take him.

Besides that, there's just a lot of them. They are the one European nationality that hasn't seen a decline of NHL players over the past few years. Swedes adapt well.

I don't get why our scouts seem to completely ignore them.

Just because we haven't drafted many doesn't mean they ignore them, there could be a player TT liked more. We got Eller from the Swedish system as well as Engqvist the last few years.

I don't think we ignore them but I think we don't spend as much time scouting Europe as we do North America and that sucks. There are good hockey players in Europe, even in countries like Slovenia (Kopitar).

Aren't Nygren and Westin both from Sweden?

But, yeah, it would be nice to have more swedes, especially in the first rounds (2-3-4). Samuelsson and Forsberg would really adress that need, wouldn't they?

To be serious I don't think we "ignore" Sweden but seems to be an afterthought to the scouts. I'd be curious to know how much scouts we have employed in Europe.

Things seemed to have picked up recently with Endqvist, Nygren and Westin picked up, and supposedly the Habs management liked Eller before trading for him. I'm not sure when they hired Christer Rockstrom but it does suggest an attempt to reform their European scouting.

Guys on CBC asking which Ranger you would rather have one on one with the goalie than Richards.

Erm, Gaborik. Every. Single. Time.

I'm betting Holmgrem finds a way to dump him if the Flyers don't win another round.
Good call. Wouldn't be surprised if one place Luongo chose to go would be somewhere he used to play AND has Team Canada's GM authorizing his paychecks.
