"*****In addition to the lineup changes, McLellan’s adjustments Wednesday included moving Patrick Marleau to the center spot between Ryane Clowe and Marty Havlat.
The switch, McLellan said, should enable Marleau, who has been scoreless in the series, “to use his size through the middle, his size and speed” all over the ice.
“When he’s a winger, he has a tendency to play on just one-third of the ice surface,” the coach added. “That doesn’t happen all the time because in our system you’re allowed to wander. But he’s a big man and he’s a strong man and he can get to places because he can skate well.”
Somehow, between the lines, I’m hearing a coach quietly faulting a player for not taking advantage of the system he plays in. But maybe that’s just me."
you'd have to think that we're due to control/dominate at least one game right? if that was ever going to happen, this is the game for it to happen. almost a must win, at home, going back to st louis for the next game.
i'm thinking they finally control a game, and win it 3-1. Feel like Couture will net one (he must feel good about getting off the schnide last game, even though it was too little too late). Marleau will finally get one, as will Clowe.
Conversation with my usually over-confident buddy via text today:
ME: Our boys gonna do this right tonight?
BC: they better
ME: I was hoping for some over-confident re-affirmations from you...this is not a good sign
BC: I am not feeling the same as before. I will feel better with them scoring first an[d] switching Marleau and couture
ME: I will feel better when marleau and Joey yayo score
BC: yeah it's been rough for the top line goal wise
