Best Spot for Torrey Mitchell

Torrey Mitchell can be useful sometimes. My question is, where is his best spot?

He looked great when he played LW alongside Pavelski and Wellwood last year.

But he became a fan favorite during his rookie year where he played his natural C position. He was effective in this spot due to his speed which allowed him to back-check well.

Nowadays he primarily plays RW. He has a right-handed shot so that makes sense that he's there. His size limits him in the middle, which seems to be the reason he was placed at wing.

Or is his best spot simply off of the team? He has a hard time clicking with anybody and as many have noted, the play often dies on his stick. He has speed, and a respectable fore-check, but beyond that there leaves a lot to be desired.

So.... I'm curious to know what you guys think.

Thanks

The best Mitchell looked all year was when he was on a line with Moore and Wingels.

He sucked before that and has sucked since.

I'll take all the comments similar to this.

Loved him before his broken leg, since then, he hasn't been the same. His best position is 4th line C, but he doesn't have the agitator qualities he needs to be worthwhile there. He doesn't have the size to be 3rd line C either.

Any team not named the Sharks... I wanted Mitchell to succeed for years but he sucks. Will always remember his epic shorty against the Quacks.

He will become the next Marcel Goc if he recovers his confidence.

Highly doubt either party wants to re-sign. Maybe as a 4th liner at $700K but why would he accept that unless he has no other offers.

He has been fantastic during stretches, including in the first games of the ploffs. At his best he is a tremendously good player, and I'd love him on the Sharks. Not sure if he can put it together or for what length, however. I don't blindly hate him like many here.

We will trade him away and he will be a guy some team depends on in the playoffs... probably eliminate us as a #8 seed in OT.

I think he's the textbook "too good for the minors, not good enough for the pros" type of player. I think he'd be a top-tier AHL player, but lacks size, smarts, and finish to stick in the NHL. Size can be overcome if the other factors are there, but with Mitchell...

But who knows, he might become a decent bottom sixer on a different team. Seems like he's run his course in teal.

Mitchell is a free agent after this season. I'd prefer to see him on another team.

I have to agree. I like him as a player, just that's he's kind of a tweener 3rd/4th liner at this point.

he needs to go. nothing against him but he isn't very good. went from promising top 6 to quality 3rd liner to now someone i don't even want playing limited mins on the 4th line. talk about negative development.
