Sorry, but I don't buy that crap.

I don't think Kovalchuk is injured (at least no major injury - and which player ISN'T nursing a minor injury at this point) as much as he is exhausted from playing 25 minutes a game for the 77 games of the regular season that he played as well as the 5 games of postseason.

Some Devils fans were gloating about their ferocious flurries in games 1 & 3 and then complained about their players mailing it in after that, but you just can't sustain that kind of energy level for 60 minutes. It's not humanly possible. No matter how insanely prepared your body is, you will wear out... especially after you've played 80+ games.

If Kovalchuk isn't 100%, blame his coach who decided to drive him into the ground.

Agree 100%.

Ushers will need to aggressively pursue rat throwers and escort them from the building. People will get the message quickly.

Fans will need to point out these rat throwers to ushers. Yes, fellow fans will need to "rat" them out.

Classy: "I'm a great believer in tradition," Devils goaltender Martin*Brodeur said. "I think it's great for the fans. It's kind of a pain when you play."

He played a perfect game as a call up. Very responsible defensively, good decisions with the puck played nice and physical. On the way home I said to my wife Strachan played great and she goes I didn't even notice him and I said exactly.

It would be nice if they would made a more concerted effort to tell people not to throw rats after goals. Do it at the first time out instead of advertising or a stupid in arena game. Murphy yelling it while people are chucking them after goals is useless. Put a video up with a couple people in handcuffs getting escorted out and you would see it at least slow down. I literally want to punch the people that do it in the face I truly have a hate for stupid people.

But...but...how is that possible? No one cares about hockey south of the Mason-Dixon line!

WRT the rats; I think they should produce a short video that explains how the tradition started, how the tradition should be "played", and the consequences of not following the rules (have Stanley Cop 'arrest' someone throwing one at the wrong time).

Sadly, I still have all of the rats I brought to Game 1. We only throw them after a win. Here's to hoping there's a Round 2 for us.

lol that's great! i hope he keeps thinking that way so they keep playing the same and don't bother to re-evaluate their own game. parise, kovalchuk, zajac, elias...those guys can burn us if they played a complete 60 minute game.

i hope they keep playing the same way they have, thinking that it's just luck and the refs giving us wins.

As a complete aside, anyone else think that the pre-game presentation is ... rather bad.

The revolution video is okay, though not as good as the regular season one. The choice of song to get the crowd pumped up sounds like crap produced in a garage. The drummers would be a nice touch if they actually all kept beat in time with the crappy song.

1 more win, 1 more win, Cross your little fingers, the #1 and #2 seeds in the East maybe going down in the next few days... Which means if we close out our series WE, THE FLORIDA PANTHERS will have home ice advantage throughout the rest of the playoffs in the East!

I agree, he made some great cross ice passes for good scoring chances and has stepped up for Garrison while hurt in the PP role. I think he's beginning to earn that paycheck. He as does Kulikov makes some boneheaded turnovers in our zone but it's going to happen.

Definitely agreed, especially with the drummers being off beat. We need a jumbotron that's capable of producing images on the ice. Last year, the Lightning had incredible pre-game presentations, and a lot of it had to do with high resolution imaging that was shown on the ice. But the videos were, admittedly, more awe inspiring than the stuff we're showing.

Having a real PA announcer (like last year) would also help the intros.

Jovo has sort have been like gudbranson this year. unusual for a veteran he has played more like a rookie. He has gotten better every game he plays. The more jovo plays the less mistakes he makes. He is much better right now than he was at the start of the season.

The video is just another factor some of us old guys miss the arena. The pre-game "hype" does nothing! I remember all these pregame festivities that really got the fans going good.

As for the rats, Right after the first face off, or just after the anthem, have no other sounds, like the drums, announcers etc, and do a quick note about the rats. You can barely hear any of the "no rats" announcements, unless you are looking at the jumbotron, you do not see it. Also, asking fans to "rat" out other fans would be helpful too.

The best comment someone made here, the panthers biggest opponent is themselves (or something like that). As long as they take care of themselves, no turnovers, stay out of the box, etc. they will win.

Thanks soupy for posting the predictions, I could not remember who said we'd be swept. I was thinking it was one of the NHL tonight regular announcers.

Oh, it was nice to see something on the plain drywall where they are doing the construction in the first floor. I could swear it was plain drywall in the main walkway 2 weeks ago.

I do like the ideas of the big bass drums during the game. I think it really gets the "lets go panthers" chants going good. Don't get the "Rat Pack" with painted faces. Sorta surprised someone has not pulled racist card with some with the black painted faces. I just don't understand the entire thing with the rat pack outfits and makeup.

Maybe see who was in charge of Public Relations/Advertising or whatever back then versus now and see what's up.

IMO, the best way to avoid the rats being thrown would be with a player (Jovo?) saying it before the 1st period and then the announcer before the rest of the periods.

I didnt mean I think he was injured, I meant I was screaming for the Cats to bang him around. Make him know they are there and wont let him be dancing all around the ice. I would love to see Guds just flat out destroy Kovalchuk.

Unless it's Guds or Jovo, I wouldn't recommend it. Kovy ****ing broke a finnish d-mans wrist in the WC's a few years back after he didn't like his hit on him. Didn't even get a penalty for doing that.

Not sure what song it is because Im not there, and Im sure its way overplayed around the league, but the Cats needs to play Volbeat's "Warriors Call" to get the crowd pumped. Such a perfect hockey song. Maybe they already play it at other points, but at the beginning would be best.
