I'd like to see the Habs add an experienced #6/7/8 defenseman this summer too. It's nothing like as high a priority as getting somebody at the upper end for the top-4. But if we could add somebody in a depth role who brings some kind of specialized element... toughness, leadership, character... I think we should.

BUT. We're definitely only talking 1-year deal here. And we're talking sub-$1.5M deals too. Picking over the scrap heap of depth guys. There could be quite a lot of guys to look at in that capacity. And I wouldn't say Bouillon would be at the top of the list or anything. But depending on how things turned out, if we ended up far enough down our list, I wouldn't object to Bouillon being that guy added, eventually.

I would love to see Bouillon back with the Habs for another year for something like 1.25 million. I'd like to see a defense pairing next year something like this...

UFA/Diaz/Tinordi/Beaulieu-Gorges

Subban-Bouillon

Markov-Emelin

Thats of course in no particular order, But I would like the combination of offense and physicality on every line.

That would be a nightmare.

Of course he would consider an offer. JP Dumont said the same thing.

I really like Bouillon but I don't think it would be fair to him. He would play as a 7th D and he wouldn't get enough ice time to make a difference and because of that he would probably not be a very effective player, then the fans wouldn't like him and he would be unhappy.

I know this is a far fetched situation but it happens all the time in Montreal, where their situation with the team ends up making them unliked, and it's not fair to do that to a guy who was very much liked during his time here.

I never liked Bouillion, but at this point in his career if I have to watch him on Montreals defence, I would need to put salt in my eye. As this would be less painful.

+100000000000

And I just want to add that I REALLY hate the ****ing media. If they're not making up stories and blowing stuff out of proportion they go interview former francophones if they would like to return to MTL. Wtf is Boullion supposed to say? No? The guy's probably out of an NHL job and has nowhere else to go. He'd sign with ****ing Columbus and eat dog **** every night if he has to.

Exactly the kind of 6th/7th we should get, and would make much more sense than, let's say, Yannic Weber.

This said, there could probably be some better (read, bigger) players available. Bouillon would be cheap, but the team should never consider giving him more than a 1-yr deal.

Oh, and about those that say don't like/need him and bla bla....

The guy is a regular on a playoff team, something we can't say of ANY of our D's.

Now, he's no more than a 6th/7th guy. But, if anything, he's the kind of guy that you want as a 6th to 8th.

On the other end...

It should be something like : We offer you 800K (at most). You refuse, you don't play for us.

Who is even asking him this stupid question while he's in the middle of a playoff run?

I agree. Good enough to get us through the year until the youngsters come up. I actually liked Bouillion when he was here. Nothing fancy, but a decent 3rd pairing guy with some grit.

Not sure how well he's aged since he left here though. He's a patchwork fix for one year. I've got no problem with it if it bridges the season towards next year's intro of some of those younger players.

HAS to be only a one year deal though.

I love Boullion but I rather give the chance to Tinordi or Beaulieu.

Why does it make more sense than Yannick Weber? Weber is already on the team!

I'd rather give a chance to St-Denis if let go of Weber. If we acquire a defensemen I hope its a legit top4.

Weber is redundant offensively and weak, EXTREMELY weak defensively, and St-Denis probabably whatever spot Weber had in the lineup at this point.

Most posterd speak of rebuilding the Habs for progression, not retrogression to a more primitive stage.

Will someone bid a second rounder for Woe-ber?

No? Then a third rounder? A fourth, perhaps?

If the Habs sign Bouillon they might as well sign Dandenault.

I don't think they're ready yet. Maybe they could be a call-up but I'd rather they play in the AHL for a while first.

On the other end, I would like the habs to trade for Robidas, a RH d-man who would complement very well Markov.
I really really miss Bouillon and Robidas.
Two warrior dmen I still wish we had.
Always always liked these two warriors from...day 1.
They always gave effort out there and have guts (something we need more of, especially for playoffs...winners).

It's not Ribeiro that I miss...it is Robidas and Bouillon...

Wish management (in the past) found a way to keep those two warriors.

It might be too late...? I hope not! (but...maybe we have to turn the page on at least one of them...we have a bright future in Beaulieu, Ellis, Tinordi...and maybe Dumba ).

This below would give an extra year for Beaulieu, Tinordi, Ellis for proper development...:
Bouillon-Subban
Markov-Robidas
Emelin-Gorges
St-Denis
------- --------
Kaberle (buyout with Gomez?!)
Diaz (AHL or to the Isles with Streit!)
Weber (AHL or to the Isles with Streit!)

St. Denis is just minor league fodder that can be called up in emergencies. I don't think he is taken into consideration when deciding how to fill out a healthy NHL roster.
