http://www.nyrangersblog.com/2012-articles/april/practice-notes-only-12-at-optional-boyle-more-ice-time-for-kreider-alfie-skates.html

This is not good...after terrible loss, and only 12 players show up???

This ticks me off. Our captain didn't even show up.....

This probably pissed off torts to say the least.

What is an average optional practice attendance?

Don't really see the big deal

And what's with this "terrible loss" crap? They were by far the better team last night. It's all mental at this point. Sitting down a day and reflecting on your play can be all that is needed.

It's an optional skate and a lot of these guys are worn down and hurting. This is not significant.

I can understand what you guys are saying. But I don't know why, this really pisses me off.

I do understand they are worn down, but do you really think torts would have worked them that hard???

But I do see where you guys are coming from.

Yeah, its pretty much nonsense. It doesn't even have to be a contact practice.

Just do passing and shooting drills. Work on some basic fundamentals like puck handling. They don't even have to skate hard.

Seems like you should be pissed at the coaching staff then, for making it an optional practice.

Not a big deal. We all know this is the one team in the NHL that would never mail it in. This group comes to work every game and has worked hard all season to be here. They aren't quitting. Sometimes taking a day off to rest and reflect is what is needed, not actual physical practice.

Do you really think Callahan, Hank, Dubinsky, and Richards are the type to take off from practice because they've quit and don't give a **** anymore?

This isn't the regular season, Torts can't bag skate them at practice after a tough loss. Especially when the loss is just as much on his shoulders.

Hopefully like others said, the time off and rest will help those who opted for that instead of the ice.

Good point. I guess I over reacted. I guess it's just my heart speaking, and the terrible feeling I have right now.

I apologize. Let's go into Ottawa tomorrow, beat the **** out of them. Take it back to our house, and win beat these god damn Canadians.

No need for apologies here man. Everyone has an opinion, and 99.9% aren't wrong or right.

The rest of the team was at the driving range doing the type of practice which will come in handy in a few more days

Man I shouldn't be laughing at golf jokes fans of another team would make, being made by our own fans.

It's also to be mentioned that Torts wasn't there this morning either. This was just a show up and stay warmed up sort of skate, not a full on, or even a half practice. They had tons of these throughout the season and you saw a lot of the guys who weren't playing at the time going to them along with a few roster guys who just wanted to get on the ice. I don't really see it as a big deal at all, especially since there will be a full practice tomorrow once they're in Ottawa. These guys get beat up all year, the playoffs are nice because there's no back to backs and the guys who need it can squeeze in as much rest between the games as humanly possible.

I was literally about to post this same thing.

The Rangers checked out of the series after game 2. They've been ready to golf for days.

I hope they win the series, and if they do, I don't want to hear another negative thing from AlphaQUp or Dorado until they're out of the playoffs. Not one ****ing thing. Good god are you guys (girls?) downers.

If i remember correctly during the regular season usually only like 5-6 guys showed up to the optional. And usually it was guys like Scott, Rupp, Anisimov, Stralman, Eminger, Biron, etc.

So if Torts made them all show up and they had no energy tomorrow, you'd be calling for his head for not giving them enough rest too right?

Rest is just as important as practice at this point in the season.

Only 12 showed up for the optional on-ice session. Torts wasn't on the ice.

There were other players inside doing tape work, I believe. At least Richards, and I know a few others were doing tape work. In fact, I'd venture to guess everyone was in today for meetings/tape work. This was not a day off, it was just a day off the ice.

Just about to say this. Pretty sure there are other players watching video/getting treatment.

Who cares?

What exactly is a single practice going to do at this point of the season to make or break the game tomorrow? Absolutely nothing.

Its much, much better that a few of the guys who are banged up just rest up and come out strong tomorrow.

The only player I would be shocked about if he didn't show up would be Kreider since he's the only player that these practices will help with.

Hard to be positive dude when your team scores 4 in the first game and a total of what 5 in the next 4 .
I want th team to do well but at what point will the COACH try and adjust or prompt his players he doesn't even use in the 3 rd period to 1 : maybe get Konopka off his game what is he up to about 70% in the dot now . Wouldn't a fight maybe soften him up a bit possibly injure a hand where he's less effective
2: run effng Neil for once and for all before he hurts more players
