The problem with comparing this to the 94 team is that they had HOF players that you can rely to step up offensively. We have no one on the team with that kind of experience. Closest thing is Fedotenko and Richards.

It litteraly made me lose years off my life. Years.

I turned away from the TV in gm 6 in nearly empty bar when the Devs scored 2. The same bar that would have to open its banquet hall because it was so packed for the rest of the series and the finals. I said to my friend, a more casual NYR fan "I can't watcht them blow it again... It's breaking my heart" all i did was listen. That was desperation. I never stopped rooting but even when Kovy scored I wouldn't let myself have real hope lol. When Mess tied it my friend said "you should really turn around".
Man that was desperate. But if it were easy it wouldn't be so sweet when it does happen.

I have never felt as let down, as I did back in Game 5 of '94. While tonight was disappointing that game was on another level.

LOL. This sincerity in this thread is great, its just unfortunate that it has to be bumped every time horrible things go down.

you hit it on the head...

this isn't anywhere near as bad/close to 94'

the 94' team was loaded and we were supposed to WIN

the 94' team was WAAAY more talented

The Lows after that game were pretty Suicidal

my 8 year old was mad last night, I just told him that this was nothing compared to 94'

still dissapointing of course, but nowhere near as bad

We learn some great mini life lessons through the sports and teams we love.

I was only 12, but still vividly remember that entire season and playoff run (first season I remember watching alot was 90-91). Maybe because I was younger and was less cynical then, so I was still pretty positive even after Game 5....although part of me was getting flashbacks to blowing the series in 92 to Pittsburgh.

However, once they got down 2-0 in Game 6....I thought it was over. Their offense had just done nothing since Game 3, the Devils defense had them on lockdown. Plus nobody had overcome a 2 goal deficit in that series before. Richter will always be an unsung hero in that game, he was insanely good in the 2nd period when NJ could have easily netted 3 or 4 more. Kept the team in it and gave them a chance. Kovalev scoring at the end of the 2nd gave the team some life....and the rest is history.

At least with that team they had offensive firepower. With this years team, if they get down 2 goals it really is "game over".

We have played as poor as we have played all season the last four games and are 2-2 through that span.

Hopefully we can get back to the way we normally play!

Here is the positive:

It's now a 3 game series and we have home ice advantage and the best goaltender in the world.

We can do this.

JUST WIN.

I BELIEVE!

I was 6 years old in 1994 and I remember watching a lot of those games. I don't remember most of the details of each game, but I just remember how exciting everything was at the time. Ever since then, with the exception of the 1997 run (which was nice too at the time), nothing compares to 94. This year though...well, I've never truly been a part of a deep playoff run like this one. It's had its ups and downs so far, but we've come through when its mattered.

One thing I've learned about all of this is that despite the Rangers struggles to gain 2-game leads in this year's playoffs, I never count them out. I was frustrated when we dropped Game 5 to Ottawa in the 1st round, but when the Rangers bounced back and won 2 in a row to win the series, it really built my confidence in this team. Again, in the Washington series, after dropping a disappointing Game 6 and coming back home for a Game 7, I was nervous, but truly felt like we could win it. The resiliency we've shown is immense; I definitely feel good about our chances, despite our overall performance in this series.

I'm glad we have the positive thread...we need more of a positive outlook with our team. I don't know how much more I can stress this: It's a 3-game series now. 2 at the Garden. You cannot help but feel good about that. Home ice is vitally important in the playoffs, especially if there's going to be a Game 7. Let's get this done!

Lets also take a look at all the off ice distraction that were present during the game yesterday.

Callahan just had a Kid and this was his first game after the birth, Del Zotto's Grandmother and biggest fan passed away, and Prust was not in the Locker Room. Am I missing any?

we have some offensive super stars. they just need to show up. and i don't mean just for a goal or an assist here and there. really really show up and dominate like how Hagelin-Richards-Gaborik dominated in game 1 vs Ottawa. They were flying all over and pinning Ottawa in there zone for their entire shift, getting good scoring chances. If we get Zuke and Dubi back in place of Mitchell and Bickel, that will also be a positive.

random irrelevant note: the last time we lost to Jersey 4-1, we won 4-2 the next game. random positivity?

Just because we can't win back to back games, the sky is falling.

Threads...

Earth to Callahan
Buy out Gabby
Torts tactics can't save us

The sky is falling, the sky is falling!

Please.....

Did anyone really expect a sweep of the Debbies? This is the biggest rivalry NY has to offer. Anyone who thought this wouldn't be a battle that goes the distance, is a bit foolish.

The Devils can't beat us. When we lose, we beat ourselves. We play our game, we advance. As Tort's would say,... there are no secrets.

Positive:

I've been inspired by the Coyotes. Just the way they've competed after being down 3-0 shows that we can turn it around against the Devils.

I am sort of hoping it will go 7

after watching the previous 2 game 7s I feel pretty strongly about NY's chances should it come down to that.

May 25th 1994 -- was game 6 --- everyone counted the Rangers out -- but they won that game to force a game 7

May 25th 2012 - 18 years to the day - they have the same opportunity

cool
