Big Joe & Rick Nash

These two have brilliant together in international play over the years because of how well their games complement one another. Prior to this year's deadline the Sharks and Jackets were reportedly in talks of making a deal involving Nash. Howson wanted a king's ransom, which included Logan Couture. Wilson didn't want to pay the alleged request. The question is, now that San Jose has failed to make it out of the first round and Couture failed to produce when it mattered, does the Nash deal pick up steam? Seems to me the Sharks have a roster the has a 3-5 year window to contend, acquiring Nash would make sense.... But for who? What's your most realistic offer?

If an offer around Clowe + Demers/Braun + other pick/prospects gets it done, go for it. Otherwise, no thanks.

Couture? No. Not a chance.

Couture is both better and younger than Nash is. Couture also had quite a bit of success in last year's postseason. Taking a young stud player who is your team's leading goalscorer simply because he managed only 1 goal in 5 games this postseason and trading him away for an older and arguably lesser player who has 1 goal in 4 career playoff games would be ridiculous.

Marleau and Pavelski would be the two most likely candidates. Blue Jackets probably wouldn't want to take Marleau.....who has a NTC and wouldn't want to go to Columbus anyway.

Pavelski is the most likely candidate to go......but I see no reason why DW or anybody on the Sharks would agree to trade Pavelski for a guy with fewer goals, fewer points, no playoff pedigree, slightly older, and at twice the annual salary (which would require the Sharks to give up another Top-6 player just to afford him).

Obviously if CBJ would be willing to take Clowe, Murray, and maybe a pick....but they'd never do that either.

Nah. The Jackets can keep Nash. We don't want him in teal for the price tag he carries.

I would love nash if the price was absolutely perfect, otherwise no thanks. A lot of people thought heatley would blow our minds when he came in with thornton passing the puck to him and look how that turned out, not so great after all, nash could be the exact same thing so unless we get almost a steal dealing for him I dont think it would be worth it overall.

I'd take Nash for Pavelski and Murray (or Clowe).

Absolutely not. We don't need to trade youth for an overpaid 60 point player, and don't argue that "he'd put up better numbers in our system" because he wouldn't.

Way too much... Clowe plus a pick should do it or its an over payment. I doubt Columbus will want Demers or Braun anyway.

He's 28. Everyone always thinks he's younger than he is, but he's been around forever.

By youthfull we mean under 25. Not almost 30.

As a King's fan Nash and Thorton in San Jose scares the hell out of me. You would be loosing depth though.

Don't want Nash, and certainly not for Pavelski + (seeing as Pavelski is a better player in everyway). Might do a 1 for 1 for Marleau, that's about it.

I think fans over value the players on the team they follow; therefore making unlikely suggestions for trade pieces. Consequently, other players around the league get undervalued. Please review Nash's stats and who has played along side him over the years. As a power forward, there aren't many better than Nash. As the King fan stated earlier, the acquisition would "scare the hell out of him", the Sharks would have an identity as a big physical team that can fill up the net.

Is there really any other kind?

Anyways, I doubt we get Nash, nor should we. We need more character, more grit. Not the kind of qualities I think of when I hear #61's name. Not knocking him at all as a player, but it's just not right for us.

My guess? He's a Senator by mid-July.

Contract and Price makes any attempts for Nash kinda discouraging

I'd rather see the Sharks take on Iginla for a year or two over trying to get Nash.

That's an interesting guess... What makes you say that?
