Yakupov for Murphy and Reinhart? I think Edmonton might do this, Those two would be awesome additions, and Yakupov is Yakupov.

Canes fan saying no thanks. Nail isn't that good to be worth Murphy and Teravainen.

i understand where the OP is going with this though....the Oilers would get a top d-man prospect like Murphy and also at #8 have a chance to also get Reinhart or Trouba or Ceci....whoever is left and get what they really need, 2 potential top end NHL d-men. it's not that bad of a proposal really.

Nah, I'd rather keep Murphy and take someone like Faksa.

Would you trade Jeff Skinner for 4th overall and De Haan?

I was trying to. My point was Nail will be as good, if not better, than Skinner, and yet I have a feeling Canes fans would scoff at giving up Skinner for a package I think is better than Murphy and 8th OA.

He is. He is comparing the value of your proposal to another proposal, in order to make a point about the value in your proposal.

Calvin De Haan is not on the same level as Ryan Murphy. Not even close. He has never been a ppg player. Never mind scoring anywhere close to 26 goals in his draft year.

Skinner is proven in the league, at least to a degree, Yakupov is not, although Im sure he will be a very good player, he is largely unproven, at least at the nhl level.

Also, the difference between #4 and #8 this year, is not that great imo.

So, your proposal isnt close to what I am proposing.

His proposal is markedly worse than mine, so much so, that it isnt relevant.

The difference between 1st and 2nd is great nevermind the difference between 1st and 8th. He's also playing on a pretty offensively stacked Jr. team. I hope Oiler fans take note of this before they start claiming that Rieder is an untouchable bluechip prospect.

Yakupov is far more of a guarantee than Murphy and Reinhart

I watched much of the first two games of the Knights and Rangers series and nobody other than Murphy really stood out on the Rangers for me (Houser was fantastic for the Knights in game 2, wow, wonder if he gets drafted (late) finally this year, rooting for him). Kitchener seems to have a balanced attack with a goalie who can make timely saves. Murphy can definitely create chances though, he is speedy and good with the puck.

Interesting proposal.

Yakupov will, in my estimation, be a top 6 forward next year. A CHEAP top 6 forward.

Staal is already 27 and Ward is 28. They are in their primes, and a player like Yakupov would certainly be a HUGE help to us.

I'd do it. Staal and Ward are going to start declining in thenext 4-5 years, but in the mean time we need talent to surround them. Yakupov will be cheap for 3 years and can step in when Staal can't be the franchise player anymore.

But I don't think my line of reasoning will resonate with other 'Canes fans, so I'm in the minority.

Was Murphy that good? I didn't see the game.

He was absolute dynamite the first two periods in game 2 (scored a goal from the point with 0.1 seconds left), third period where the knights came back down 4-2 to win 6-4 he wasn't as good, but neither was the rest of the team haha.

Until he does it though there will always be the question of if he can make the jump.

no offense, but saying the consensus #1 player in the draft isn't worth a couple of lower ranked players who are still question marks at this point in time is just wrong.

Bleh. No thank you... I;d rather pick Yakupov.

The value might be close, but if I am trading that pick it isn't for something unproven, it is gonna be for an established defensive stud, and that is about it.

Nail's a good prospect, but let's not pretend he's a sure thing superstar here. I'm not even convinced that he'll be as good as Hall. Giving up a top offensive dman prospect and a pick that's a guarantee to have the chance to pick one of the next tier of prospects isn't worth it.
