I like the optimism but we will probably have to score 5 or 6 goals in the 3rd period if we are to have a chance at winning.

I'm starting to come around to this line of thinking too. Just too many head scratchers, and stubborn moves. He's getting stale as a coach.

East is wide open. I see no reason why Philly can't make it all the way to the SCF. In the finals though, I like St. Louis/Nashville/Phoenix/Los Angeles over them.

Of course, most people only care about #1. It's much easier.
I think the coach should definitely be fired. Philly's PP is clicking at about 60%. That has to be some sort of playoff record. The teams overall lazy performance and lack of discipline is also on the coach. Good riddance.

However,

When your goalie cannot stop a wrist shot from center ice, repeatedly, you're not gonna win. He's been awful for 15 out of 18 periods. Not 'mediocre'. Awful.

They are so tight on our players and dont give Malkin and Crosby any room. Then when Giroux comes out we give him free reign. I blame this on coaching.

Last one.....they backed up like Gustafsson (or whatever his name is) was carrying cholera, not a puck.

I keep thinking this too...it has to start early. Fast and hard. Get back to a fast forecheck, create turnovers and start throwing the puck at the net.

How does this team win like, 25 of their last 30 before the playoffs, then turn into this?

Let's just hope that Philadelphia don't win the cup - I think they will sadly.
I don't think they'll come close. Their defensive structure and goaltending have been awful. I just think we've been way worse, and it makes them look better than they are. Their offense is fantastic, but everything else is substandard.

Well we know Philly's GM has balls, Let's see if Shero does this offseason.

No adjustments and an arrogant attitude about how good his own system is his biggest problem. He thinks that he can play the same way against every team and get the same results. It hasn't worked against the Flyers all season and he's still trying to do the same things.

Insanity. Two guys on D need to be replaced max, possibly only Martin with Orpik getting fewer minutes. Many of these goals are on Fleury, not just the D. Bottom line is the mix we have doesn't work in terms of playing playoff, Team D. Too many small guys, too many guys who are slowing down at this stage in their career, etc.

My inclination is Martin and Niskanen (even though Nisky has been decent offensively). They're getting abused on there on the physical side of things. Too easy for a team built like Philly to take advantage of in this kind of series. We need to position Michalek to going back and doing what he does best. Block shots. No way I'd get rid of that guy unless it was a cap issue. The other two we need to replace with guys like Sarich / Jackman, maybe Despres.

Based on what I am seeing, they don't have any emotional energy left after the last two games. That or their food was tampered with. I have never seen an entire team look this tired / slow. We have not created a SINGLE, clean scoring chance from the middle of the ice. Not one. I don't care how good another team's D is, when that happens it's on you. I think this team is out of gas and the Flyers are doing a good job of never giving Crosby or Malkin a clean look (credit to them).

Not sure what Shero needs to do but substantial changes are needed in terms of physicality and durability. That probably means cutting the older and smaller guys lose, save for Letang. This is not a rental team Philly has put together. They're young, strong and will be around for a while so we can't stand pat.

Heard cap going to 60 mil might happen, so not much Pens can change except unloading Martin for cap room, and firing of Bylsma.

That had nothing to do with Zone defense. That was off the rush and both Z and Fleury **** the bed.

One month ago, we had a long winning streak, Sid finally came back, everyone was healthy, and we were a point out of 1st place. Really never seen a team collapse like this in my life. I honestly can't see any way in hell Byslma doesn't get canned.
