I did notice the lack of a Crosby sucks chant today until late in the game. I did not know Amateur Hour had that much street cred amongst Flyers fans! I was pleased. Way to go AH!

The mischanting plus the pictures on the banners... disconcerting.

They did the "correct" chant at the last Spectrum game. Which was in 08.

It's much easier to do the chant with the organist playing along, but when you are trying to start one, it's difficult to yell the A-A-B-A pattern at the top of your lungs. You really have to commit to the "Let's" which leads to a natural trailing off of the "Go".

It really was a better chant though...it had it's own character and charm and just seemed uniquely Flyers. I remember no issue with having the crowd chant this, extremely loud in the old building. The current cadence just seems lifted from the Rangers or Devils and I will probably never fully embrace it.

Its lifted from the Rangers. The Devils lifted it from the Rangers(just like everything else they do)

And I agree with you i'll never really like this stolen cadence. I love the original! Thank you BP 74!

it's not the same interval as the rangers chant.

being nitpicky, but it's not. it's just a generic "let's go [sports team]" chant.

Really? Hmm. I cant hear a diffrent interval but I'll take your word for it. I can tell you having a sister who is a Devils fan and living in NJ around many Devils fans (Jersey Shore) and attending many Devils games, that fan base has stolen thier whole identities from the Rangers!! Its sickening how they just blatently steal everything and try to pawn it off as their own. The chant sounds the same to me too but hey what do I know? (nice avy BTW)

If my memory is correct, I believe the natural emphasis on "Flyers" falls on the first syllable. Emphasizing the second doesn't come naturally to English speakers.

Oh yeah, I'm all for keeping the chant intact. I was just putting forth an explanation as to why people do it wrong; it's because the wrong way is the most natural/easiest way.

But in all seriousness, I was as shocked as anyone. I even pointed it out to the two Pens fans with whom I was watching. Of course, I'm sure the absence of a "Crosby Sucks" chant had nothing to do with my post (which was fueled by alcohol), but it was still a cool -- and welcomed -- coincidence nonetheless.
