Assuming a $4.5MM increase in the cap (league revenue estimate is currently $3.2 billion, divided amongst 30 teams then split to the players' 57% share that's a $60.8MM midpoint so a $68.8MM cap and $52.8MM floor). Here's what we're looking at:

$45.5MM for 15 signed players. (9F, 5D, 1G)

$4MM for Brodin + Granlund (estimate)

$1.5MM for backup goalie (Harding? Being conservative here)

$2.5MM re-sign Lats (let's just accept and not argue it here)

$1.5MM re-sign Johnson + Kassian

That's $55MM for 13 forwards, 6 defensemen, 2 goalies. We'd still need one more defenseman (Falk/Stoner $1MM?) and perhaps 1 more forward. The 9 signed forwards include Zucker, but that's an okay placeholder for a potential Bulmer/Larsson/other prospect making the team. If that cap estimate is off significantly (say a $9MM increase in the cap) then we might struggle to reach the floor. But assuming it's accurate, we should be $4MM-$5MM above it.

Thanks for doing the math. I was going to add "(not quite sure if we're under the cap - squidz probably knows)"

I'd give the former UMD kid on the Panthers an offer if he were to hit free agency. His name escapes me and he's not a great defenseman, but he can shoot the puck and this team could use that from the point...

Sounds like Kampfer. Although, Kampfer isn't terrible in his own end.

Edit: Nevermind, Garrison is nothing like Kampfer.

Garrison had a great year. I'd love the Wild to grab him.

I'd pull out the torches and pitchforks if Fletcher signs Garrison.

Garrison is very much a PRODUCT of being paired with Soupy. The Wild have no Brian Campbell to make Garrison look good.

The year before, without Campbell;
73 games played, 5 goals, 18 assists.

Sure that would be a slight upgrade to what we have now, but...

With Campbell?
77 games played 16 goals, 17 assists.

I don't buy into Garrison's year with Campbell. Brian Campbell made Hjalmarsson look valuable enough to have San Jose throw an offer sheet at him. Frankly, I think hjalmarsson looks more and more like a 4th defender than the #2 guy he was being groomed to be...

This is why it percolates in my mind as to who makes who better in Nashville. Is it Suter that makes Weber look awesome, or is it Weber that makes Suter look awesome?

If it's one or the other, it's Suter making Weber look good. If Suter was a 20 point defenseman instead of a 35-45 point defenseman, he'd still be a top pairing guy.

Yeah Garrison is definitely overrated, and will get overpaid by someone this offseason.

I want

the Wild to sign Alexander Semin. EVERYBODY wants Parise & Suter, but if the Wild gave Semin the royal treatment, they could get him.

I'd also wager they could get him at dollars and term that would be less insane than Parise or Suter will command as well, probably not a Havlat-like contract, but close. I don't want the Wild to have a guy making 7+ for 10 years or whatever, especially a guy on the wrong side of 25.

Semin has great talent and can flat-out score. He seems to have a bad rep on HF Boards, so if someone would care to elaborate, I'm willing to listen and have my mind changed.

GOD NO no no no regarding SEMIN. He will be a flop here, and become a lockerroom distraction. Signing him will be a mig mistake. Semin only works on teams were he is the 3rd, 4th, 5th scoring option. If he came here, he would suddenly become scoring option #1, and with his work "ethic" he would crumble and be a total fail.

I disagree he'd be a #1... he'd be a 1A in a situation where we have team scoring. Heatley and Koivu can and should put up more points if they're healthy, and they have healthy linemates. Seto, Granlund and possible PMB/Gui can provide scoring depth along with a strong 3rd line anchored by Brodz and Clutter.

This team can score more goals... and would have scored more goals if they were healthy.

Yeah no......not Semin. I'd rather not sign him, I don't know why, but I just have a bad feeling on him.

As much as I want Parise dont' think he's going to sign here. No forwards really stick out to me that's on the right side of 30. Maybe Penner or Stoll for a year or two, see what happens. But I'd rather grow from within, we have our forwards, but we need a D.

Tyler Ennis? I think he is a free agent, I would like to see us pick him up even though I think he is another small center, might be costly but the kids good

How big is he? I'm reluctant to go after really tiny guys now after seeing injuries to PMB and Spurgie.
