Also, I just don't like Koivu or Cullen. That's not me being negative, I just don't like them.

Guess I just have a different perspective.

I still hope/expect the team to sign Parise AND Suter. Don't like it? Don't care.
Cause I care about the team. I'm emotionally invested. Thats how I roll. Don't like it? Don't care.

Since the Twins won their last World Series? What the deuce?

That's not how Minnesota fans work at all.

They've been trained to let their guard down, accept the team and build up hope, so that the team can punch you in the gut in the most brutal way imaginable.

Anyone else notice this from the Minnesota Prospects article?

Quote:
Hardest Shot: Marco Scandella, D, Minnesota Wild (NHL)

The Wild had one of the least productive blue lines in the league. After sending Brent Burns away, the team just doesn't have an offensive weapon on defense. Jared Spurgeon and Tom Gilbert can do some good, but Marco Scandella has a chance to contribute even more as he matures as a pro, having now graduated from prospect status. One of the hardest and most valuable skills in today's game is getting the puck through the waves of players laying out to block lanes. Scandella has shown some ability in this area, and while his shot isn't a weapon yet on the order of NHLers Kurtis Foster or Jason Garrison, he can shoot. The Wild will need more goal scoring from their rearguards next season, Scandella may be able to provide it.
We're not the only ones who've been thinking about Garrison.

Also an article on nhl.com about how what his family wants to do will be a huge part in his decision.

According to Russo, the Wild are close to re-signing Clayton Stoner. I'll be happy to keep that guy in the fold.

Agreed. Perfect 3rd pairing guy that can step up if healthy and needed and should be cheap.

4-sport Minnesota fans really need to stop complaining about lack of success of Wild/Twins/Vikings/Wolves in the past two decades. It is a mass social-psychological complex you guys have, that you reinforce with each other over and over again until you believe the gods or fates are against you.

Winning a championship is incredibly hard in any professional sport. It doesn't happen often to any franchise and any market. There are plenty of cities that haven't won in a really, really long time.

Just be thankful you actually have 4 professional teams in 4 professional sports to cheer for.

It's actually more fun to pile on the misery in pro sports so you don't have to do it in the rest of your life

Unlucky in cards, lucky in love. Etc.

I like the idea of keeping Stoner around, he's a good PK/3rd pairing D-man who's been steady and does all the right things, the problem is we have too many guys that can do this job, let's hope that we can find some more solutions to the blue-line problem. I don't think we have a shot in hell at getting Suter, but who knows? That'd be a huge step towards solving our problems there.

There's a contract limit and we're going to be really close with a lot of guys on 2-way deals in Houston.

are considering Cullen part of the core? cause i really don't see him as part of the wild past this season. He is no longer needed as a stop gap.

(assuming that i am right about the length of his contract)

Koivu to me is playing out of his elemental. Mediocre 1st line center, great 2nd line center.

I figured this could be put in this thread.

http://hfboards.hockeysfuture.com/sh....php?t=1190563

Damien Brunner, confirms the Minnesota Wild offered him a contract.

Might be worth a flyer for a right handed shot RWer. Would take some maneuvering with our number of contracts.

Interesting. GMCF must have some ideas for future trades if he's already made an offer to Brunner.

Semin's headed to free agency.

I wouldn't want the Wild to pick him up, but it will be interesting to see him with another team.

find me 30 better NHL centers, Koivu would be sought after HARD if he were available by teams because he is a legit number one center and good one too.

notice how when he was gone we had NO one to replace him or even bar the door long enough, he came back and the team started playing good again.

WE could have lost Cullen and Brodz and made it work but we couldn't do anything about Koivu.

We are fine for a number 1 center, he may not be the elite all star stud center ala Crosby or Datsyuk but he is a very solid number 1 guy. Whole year of Mikko and Wild were in the playoffs easy.

Going further Koivu and Parise would complement each other very very well, both play a strong game and both are responsible and would be fun to watch.

yeah Semin is the anti-Yeo. All the skill no heart to use it, the most frustrating part is you know you have a game breaker but you don't know when you have a game breaker.

He will want and will get 6+ mil too rich for a guy of his ilk for me personally.

Just go on YT and type his name for highlights.

Also, he's a shootout specialist!
