NO, simply just a bad idea look at his face off record and his shots on goal to me are excellent...

hell no. He's too versatle to let go. Agree with the earlier poster, give him the A from Clowe or even Patty.

I tried to ask the Rangers fan that was lurking here what we'd need to add to get from Clowe to Hagelin, but he left.

Seriously, though, Hags is the perfect target. Young, fast as hell, good hands, and good defense.

Oh of course I'd love if we could somehow get Hags for Clowe. Problem is like you described he's a great player who the Rangers would probably not want to part with.

I dunno, maybe Clowe+Demers for Hagelin+Dubinsky? Demers is exactly the type of player NYR could use; young, lots of upside, RHD, PMD, NHL-ready. And they view Dubinsky as a cap-dump.

Dubinksy would be a solid third liner too. I like this trade.

Wouldn't trade Pavs. Honestly, what more do you want in a hockey player? I can't imagine swapping Pavs for anyone that would be considered fair value that would make the Sharks a better team.

You want more speed in a hockey player. Pavs is a swiss-army knife but this team is lacking majorly in the speed department among the scoring lines. It's not his fault and it doesn't necessarily condemn him to being moved. But the combination of Thornton, Pavelski, Clowe, and Couture makes for way too slow of a top six and compound that with the possibility of injury to Havlat and him being replaced by the likes of Wingels, Mitchell, Desjardins, or Winnik who are either slow or offensively unaware, you run into the problems this team ran into with inconsistent play and inconsistent results.

I think the team really needs Pavs to play on the 3rd line C. To me, we need another RW to play with JT. I posted in another thread but for me a player like David Jones is almost an exact Seto replacement and he's flying under the radar right now.

Seto was quick and has a snapper for a shot. Jones doesn't have either from my vantage point. His goals this season mostly came from crashing the net. Good in its own way but he isn't all that skilled overall. His offensive game relies on a lot of luck.

Disagree on the luck part. Look at the FA list - he's just about as close as you can come to a Seto replacement at this point. The guy can shoot and has decent speed - especially when you consider the team as a whole. He also has size - something we seem to be lacking is size and speed.

On the other hand - any REALISTIC suggestions for a 1st line RW that we could realistically land in FA? - The pickings are slim for sure and I thought D Jones was at least somewhat feasible... it's better than praying for Doan isn't it?

One, considering any free agent realistic for the Sharks is a fool's errand. Secondly, look at his goals this year. He's had three goals all year where he carried the puck and shot it in. All the other goals came off deflections, rebounds, or bang home shots that came within six feet of the net. The three shots that he put in weren't exactly snipes either. They were breaks that he'd carry into the slot and take a pretty plain shot.

His speed is slightly better than Couture's or Pavelski's. It's average. He's got size and a quality net front presence but not much more in terms of an offensive skill set. Size is certainly not something this team lacks. Thornton, Marleau, and Clowe are plenty of size. They're missing speed and Jones is not speedy.

Chances are that the Sharks don't sign anyone because nobody really signs here unless they're purposely limiting their options. Chances are, they will trade for that winger.

Playing with a knee, thumb, foot injury and still played through it. No wonder he seemed off. I don't get why we want to trade him when he's been clutch other years and is still young...

I would love to keep Pavs if we can find a good first line winger and move him down to center the 2nd or 3rd line.

From the Rangers I'd offer any of the following to get Pavelski..

Dubinsky, Anisimov, Erixon, Miller, Fasth(Swedish prospect very fast), Thomas, and picks..
