Mark Stone Appreciation Thread

Congratulations on your first NHL point, albeit in the playoffs so it won't count officially! Unbelievable pass to Spetsa and I hope you and he develop wonderful chemistry going forward. Excellent job helping us get the lead which is a first in this series. Look forward to many great things - and thank you for being right-handed

Congrats again!

Stoner is going to be amazing beside Spezz in a few years. I'm pretty pumped for this guy.

Zibanejad suffered a concussion while practising with the Binghamton Senators.

Mika has the flu and might be concussed (no official statement on that by the team).

Wow. Let me be the first to point out that I said he shouldn't be in the lineup, and that they should play Hoffman instead. So incredibly wrong. Way to go Stoner!!!

I can only imagine his train of thought...: "I'm hugging JASON SPEZZA!!!!"

My Brandon Wheat Kings captain making his NHL and playoff debut and getting an assist? Good on you, kid. Hope he does your organization well. He's had a hell of a season in the WHL.

And it was a MEANINGFUL assist - primary assist, thread-the-needle pass to spring Spezza right on net for a GWG...

I woke up at the half way point of the game: I didn't notice Stone all that much in the second half. That's not necessarily a bad thing, he didn't make any mistakes!

Can anyone comment on his overall play tonight?

Was very fond of him in the WJC and very happy with what he was able to do tonight regardless the amount of excitement, anxiety, and pressure that was put on him.

He was managed well by McLean so he got to play his game and wasn't an outstanding liability.

Saw him put in the most when there was a draw in the offensive zone. He really is outstandingly slow and I was on the verge of shouting at the TV for him to move his feet more, especially in the defensive zone. Short shifts mostly.

However, this game he showed that he's got a heck of a head on his shoulders and is very smart and capable with the puck which made up for a lot of his deficiencies and even turned into a plus with that sweet feed to Spezza for the GW. He managed to break up a pass or two in the neutral zone and was active with his stick keeping the puck alive offensively.

Looked a bit shell-shocked to me really but to even show up and post a point the way he did after, what was it? 4 days practicing with the team. I like him.

Mobility did seem an issue: the two times I remember seeing jersey number 60 the player was not moving very much...

I'll wait until next season to pronounce my judgment on him because he's been parachuted in a war zone.
