Have to hand it to Quick, he's showed up in a playoff series and we could be in for a long run. All this franchise has needed was a timely goaltender that can carry the team through the playoffs, I sure hope Quick is that guy right now.

Life long Kings fan here! As long as they give the Blues a series, I'll be ok with that. But in the less than likely event they win? Hell ya!
The only time they've gone past the 2nd round, well, they played for the Cup.

I wasnt paying too much attention to drew tonight. So just curious for those who were: outside of his nice play on the GTG, overall how did he do tonight? If drew can get it going like we know he can, and if brown, kopitar, and quick keep up their strong play, we just might have an outside shot at a cup.

So, like, I knew we would do it, but knowing that we have now actually done it feels sooo good.

Our team is playing as they should, good things will happen.

Counting the days til next season so we can beat the nucks again.

Many thanks to everyone for (mostly) keeping your cool and being respectful elsewhere around the forums. A little banged up but everyone's still here and contributing - just the way we like it. See you in round 2.

In other news...

200+ people met the Kings tonight at the airport when they arrived home (with extremely short notice on location) - impressive!: http://twitpic.com/9d1yx7

I love this! Nick Nickson's radio call on the winning goal is synced up to the video by TSN. Advance the video to 2:02 to hear it

Don't get too ahead of yourself.

Before the deadline deal heard all 'round hockey world we lost a ton of 1-0 and 2-1 games. We couldn't score!!! A hot goalie can only take you so far.

Are there any HF'ers that met the Kings at the airport who can describe what the scene was like?

We need a Stoll goal face GIF similar to the Kesler v. Nashville one from last year. Shop geniuses, make it happen

When I got the notifcation from the Score mobile about Stoll's overtime goal, it took every ounce of me to not scream and shout at work.

Soooo pumped, and actually seriously considering traveling down to LA for round 2's home games (if not at Staples, at least watch the games with other Kings fans).

I thought he was excellent all night, thought that before his outstanding play as well. He made two mistakes that didn't really go anywhere (I'm not sure who to fault on the Sedin breakaway~seemed like it was on Drew's side but I kind of expect Scuderi to be the safety valve and don't know the system or their expectations of each other well enough to say who should've been back but both probably could've done more there). Otherwise I thought he made smart, effective, strong plays all night. He was excellent at holding the puck in and the play on the goal was just one of those things Jim Fox used to talk about all the time: he's excellent at starting the quick transition and sensing when the defense is heading the wrong way.

So according to some posters at LGK who were at the airport, apparently these things happened:

- There were a couple hundred people there and the Kings, management, and broadcasters were really happy to see them (obviously)

- The Kings left in their own cars, but Jarret Stoll and Dustin Penner stayed extra long to make sure they high-fived everyone who came up

- Brad Richardson was interacting with the fans a lot too

- Bob Miller and Dean Lombardi, as well as Sutter, were reported as being in very high spirits and surprised/excited to see the fan turn-out at the airport

Did we gain the nucks as a rival? I hated when nucks fans its not a rivalry since we haven't beat them.

I sure hope so. I think that's the matchup I relish more than any other and I felt that long before this series. First game we play against them next season should be nuts.
