That's hilarious because I didn't know if he was making fun of ME with that gif. Like I tried to pwn you but didn't even come close.

A thread in which both Juxt and Foo post in?

This was to be expected, and I'm okay with this.

No confusion here. Madman is pointing out Jux's bias in attributing good points to those she agrees with, rather than objectively evaluating each at face value.

I think with the Nash debate you have to weigh in the window the Sharks have to win a cup. It's a true "go big or go home scenario."

This team has 2 more years to win the cup. Then Thornton, Marleau, Pavelski and Boyle all become UFA's (and Couture gets a huge pay raise as an RFA).

I don't think its worth it for us to think about the "future" or get younger until 2014. Because there is no point in having a team of young prospects with old veterans. Since we have already traded away our future, we are going to hit a recession in 2014 no matter what, I don't feel like getting younger right now is going to help, unless we decide to trade everyone, clowe, thornton, marleau, boyle, etc. Which would basically mean starting our rebuild next year.

If we can get Rick Nash for something like Clowe, Murray, Demers, 1st round pick. Then it might be worth it. But a swap of Pavelski or Marleau for Nash doesn't really help us.

I agree, although I would hate to get rid of Demers or Braun. At the very least when we start the theoretical rebuild in 2014 we would have a decent group of D to build up around with Demers, Braun, Vlasic, and Burns.

Sadly true

If it's anything like her "super long epic rants" then you're safe Nighthock.

Anyways yeah Rick Nash. He should not be a Shark.

nash plays with a bunch of AHL scrubs and basically does the work of three and magically creates his own offense. doesnt matter that he bested everyone elses shot totals but 100+, im sure they werent making sure he had the puck on every play or anything, but he will dbl his point totals with a good team.

am i doing it right?

Find a way to shed Marleau's salary. Then you can find a way to bring on Nash. Do you think CBJ could use a goalie? And could that goalie be Niemi? Wilson has been prone to sell dog ***** wrapped in foil and call it silver. People seem to forget that Patty's salary is only $900K less than Nash.

And he's a better player. Nash is just as much a floater (if not more so) than Patty, if you think different ask a BJ's fan. All those criticism we heap on Patty for his leadership qualities? They say the same things about Nash.

The ONLY player we could upgrade with Nash in our top-6 would be Clowe, and Nash makes twice as much as Clowe. And if you think moving Boyle out to make room for Nash is the answer, I assure you a team with Boyle + Clowe is superior to Nash alone.

That said, it can be done, (not that Nash is going to be had for Clowe) theoretically. The BJ's want Couture or Pavelski, either of which should be a total non-starter since both are better players than Nash.

FORWARDS
Rick Nash ($7.800m) / Joe Thornton ($7.000m) / Logan Couture ($2.875m)

Alex Stalock ($0.750m)

SALARY CAP: $64,300,000; CAP PAYROLL: $61,814,167; BONUSES: $0

I would rather take a shot in free agency at Parise, Doan, Semin, Jones, etc than wasting assets on Nash. Also while it's a long shot, Suter.

If I am trading major assets for a player, it's a young player or top pick, not Nash. That's the same mistake Sharks have been making for years.

nash is feasible, in the instance above, but i hate that bottom six.

Wellwood is available in the FA market as well, and it looks like he was getting tweener minutes and had respectable point totals + CORSI looked decent given the competition he was facing.

pretty much a shot in the dark, but with these type of rosters there are quite a few RFAs that we couldnt tender qualifying offers for if im correct. essentially wed be cup or bust i think. maybe im doing it wrong.

I wasn't not proposing that as a 'good' roster, just a feasible one. There was still cap space, and possibly quite a bit if the cap goes up.

I would pass on wellwood, we need to stick to speedy players only on the bottom 6.
