Garrison makes 700k as of right now and obviously this off-season he's gonna get the big bucks, somewhere around 4-5 mil.

This got me thinking, what's the highest raise a player had from a contract to his next?

Ovechkin's ELC to his current one?

Definitely. I don't think there is one other that compares.

I mean Jagr made almost 12 pre-CBA I think at one point, but I'm not sure what he made before that.

You may be able to find someone with a higher % increase several years ago but Ovechkin's was 814%. That is fairly lofty.

Yeah it depends on bonus as well.
Stamkos got a ludicrous bonus in his new contract. I think his total compensation is almost 12 mm.

Didn't Penner got from making the league minimum to $4.2M on his offersheet from the Oilers?

Depends what you are measuring, but Sacic got $2 million/year plus a $15 million bonus (!!!) for a three year contract in 1997. So he was paid $17 million for one year.

I'm not sure what he made before he signed with the Rangers, but didn't Holik sign for a ridiculously high contract in 2002?

EDIT: $3.1/year in NJ and signed $45/5 year contract in 2002...

Erik Karlsson is making 1.300 with Bonuses
He's easily gonna get 6.000 and maybe even 7.000

I don't think any other players have gotten 5.000 raises lol

Mostly because most guy who acheive superstar status during their rookie contract are drafted top 5 and make a lot in bonuses. When's the last time a "Karlsson" happened? Maybe Giroux, but he signed a bargain contract before he "broke out".

Edit: so I guess Holik did, but that was pre-lockout

Suter is making 3.5m this year (cap hit and actual earnings). Next season will be due for a big raise in terms of cap hit and actual earnings.

He went from $4.3 mil to $14 mil, though a lot of that second number was bonuses.

If we do count bonuses, the correct answer is Joe Sakic. $3.1 mil in 1996/97 to $17 mil in 1997/98. His base salary was $2 mil and he got $15 mil in bonuses.

Heh Karlsson is gonna get a massive raise. 78 points as a 21 year old put you in a very small group of people. He will probably be at least 7 mil and among the highest paid D men in the league.

If you are talking simply dollars made in one year it's Ehrhoff with the crazy bonuses Buffalo threw at him to sign last season. His cap hit is much less but he took home $10 million this season that's a pretty big increase from the @ $3 million he was making previously.
