I had the Kings contending in the West at the beginning of the season, but then they slumped big time, where they couldn't score a goal if their life depended on it. They got written off and they became underdogs. But they literally had the hardest path the Finals, so they definitely deserve it. Quick has been unreal.

So Coyotes live for another day/game.
The Kings outshot the Yotes once again, but this time they lost the game.
They outshot the Yotes
47-27
40-24
28-19
36-21
I think Tippett can win another game, but Coyes can't win 3.

And how about the Kings run. They knock out seed 1,2 and 3 and they have lost only 2 games so far. Better than the Wings '97?

Vancouver without one of the Sedin's was a huge break, hope they sent a thank you to Duncan Keith. I have been impressed by LA and have thought for two years now they would be the team of this decade and they certainly jump started it by getting Richards. I don't know what to make of the playoffs and how it shuffled out but for LA they got good matchups for what they do well, they matchup far better with the Rangers than the Devils so we should see if that transpires also. Vancouver as many predicted hurt themselves when they went Hodgson for Kassian, he made them bigger but it wouldn't matter against the LA, St. Louis and Boston teams. People aren't going to out tough or outhit the Kings my guess is the big bad Rangers are the next to find that out.

Maybe it's just me, but these conference finals have been terrible. I was enjoying LA's run for awhile, but I just couldn't care less about the playoffs anymore. Looking forward to draft day/UFA day.

The playoffs, to me, as a whole have been terrible. Maybe that just the Wings Bias in me, but not one series in the western conference has gone to seven games, and only once has it gone to six games. The east has actually been thrilling, but... I'm with you all. Bring on the draft and UFA and lets try this again next year. I have a feeling it will be quite thrilling next year and hopefully we get a better playoff picture.

I too am not so excited about those playoffs. The East has been exciting, the West boring.

Anyhow, the Kings are in the SC finals.

I've enjoyed the playoffs (outside of the Wings' performance obviously), but only because pretty much all of the teams I dislike got knocked out. The actual quality of the games has been so-so.

The 3rd round though has been pretty bad. Phoenix got dominated, while Rangers-Devils is 2-2 but with three fairly uncompetitive games among the four. The series could still redeem itself over the final 2-3 games though.

not sure what are you guys talking about.
beside the fact that the wings get knocked out early there were real entertaining games to watch in the west and in the east.
and seeing the pens get knocked out was just amaizing like the whole series phl vs pit was.
the kings are entertaining to watch every single game.
i like it to watch a interesting hockey games without any bias. its better that watching the wings playing so bad.

so to me the playoffs are interesting.
wc was as well.

uncompetitive if you look at the final score. the devils could easily have swept the series, and particularly in Game 1, they were easily the better team for the first 2 periods. only lundqvist kept the rangers in it.
the rangers are looking very tired to me. their style of play has combined with going to game 7 twice and tortorella rolling with just 3 lines and 5 d to take its toll. not saying they can't beat the devils, or even win the cup in the end, but if they limped through to the final, i'd make the kings favourites.

I just cant watch hockey if the Wings are out. It just depresses me. I have caught a few games, but i havent set aside time to watch hockey like i do with the Wings. I saw most of the Preds/Yotes series, but only because it mattered for the Wings and how their off season might go.

Every other series has been mostly highlights on TSN.

I am sure the games were quite thrilling, but the depression just sucks the fun out of it.

I watch a ton of Kings games late at night because they don't often conflict with Wings start times they are pretty entertaining in my opinion, although scoring certainly lagged this year.

Anybody have substantial thoughts on the Dustin Brown hit?

Didn't think it was dirty myself, but thought we might be seeing a brawl in the handshake line. It was as tense as I have seen since the Wings-Avs handshakes in 96'.

Thought I should post a video in case some didn't see it.

The Handshake line and game winner right after the hit.

Roenick & Milbury on NBCSN after.

I agree with Pang and McKenzie who have both said he didn't move it a whole lot if at all. On the video he is turning into it and I guess you could say he lined him up knowing it would be a bad contact zone, but Roenick eluded to how quickly this happens. Would be surprised if much like the Kronwall hit that turned bad in Philly, they didn't say the intention for a full body check was there and seen in video evidence so the play was in essence clean.

I do think he will have to answer for that the first game they go back to Phoenix however.

He never made a move to close the gap and take the body. Maybe Brown didn't intend to go for the knee, but he didn't do anything to avoid it or make it less likely. Maybe he clipped the guy's shoulder, but from the angle Brown took and for how far he stayed out, there wasn't much contact likely to happen other than at the knees.

Brown's hit was pretty late (although the whistle was way late, so maybe he gets a pass.) and he obviously had his knee out. He easily could have changed the way he delivered that hit but didn't want to, because he's Dustin Brown.

I understand why Phx was livid. But what are you going to do?
Take a number and return the favor next year, is my recommendation. Wait in the tall grass.

Suspendable? Doesn't much matter to Phx.

The correct action for a Yote to take here would have been to collar brown immediately and give it to him.
IMO, the refs would have been forced to penalize Brown for the initial hit.

All Phoenix can do is wait and even the score next year, but Shanny should be on this and throwing a suspension down.

I'm not sure how suspension-worthy this is. Borderline, IMO.
Brown is a really good player... but someone needs to take him out for a ride and let him know he needs to clean up his act.

With the NHL's stance on limiting fighting and removing questionable hits, this is ripe for a suspension.

But if he did that, he would be going against the conspiracy for the Kings to win the Cup.

At least, there's a conspiracy if you believe the Playoff board on here.

The NYR - LA finals conspiracy might be in jeopardy.
