Its all over!

Hawks season ends with a brutal G/ST performance (As did many losses in season)

Brutal series (Losses in OT in 3/4 were 2 of the worst goals ever scored in playoff OT)

Official offseason thread will go up in a day or two after the venting about season has diminshed so our offseason thread isn't full of complaining about this game or series

if we had a semi competent goalie who didn't let us down big time in OT two games, this would be our series.

gotta give credit where credit is due. smith played good.

mod edit

that is all.

Team needs:

-2nd line center
-better all around depth
-to cut Brunette, Morrison, and Kruger
-to fire Mike Kitchen
-a legit starting goalie

I honestly doubt any of those can be fixed in the offseason. 2012/13 should be just another patchwork roster of crappy veterans and rookies while Crawford and Emery do their thing.

It's ok, you can't turn it on whenever you want and expect to win a series. If we played the first 40 mins of this game like the entire series we wouldn't have been in this position

If our high paid forwards would have shown up we might have had a chance.

If one good thing comes from this is hope the realization by bowman and company that were not as close as we think, but our future still holds brighter days this teams core is still generally young so it's not all bad

Everyone will say goaltending was the difference

Hawks had a million chances down low and didn't raise one puck above mid-net level. How do you expect to beat a goalie who just gets his pads across the length of the net if you do that? Phoenix's second goal is a prime example of how you beat Smith, Crawford, or any goalie in the league.

This team's style is getting outdated in the current scheme of the league.

Also full credit to Tippett...his gameplan was to absorb pressure and Phoenix took every single possible chance they had.

phoenix plays some pretty good shutdown hockey, too. we lost to a good team, nothing to be ashamed about.

crawford on the other hand....man...he really wasn't there when we needed a big save, not even a big save, but a routine stop on those two overtime goals.

need a top 4 dman and a competent goalie. Nothing else really.

Saad-Toews-Kane
Stalberg-Sharp-Hossa
Bickell-Bolland-Frolik
Carcillo-?-Shaw

could be a bunch of different combos, that's without adding anyone too. They'll add at least one more guy. A 2C would be ideal, but not totally necessary.

#1 = Not gonna happen ,, Enjoy Kruger as #2 C
#2 = Youth coming up should help that
#3 = Bruno/Morrison are UFA's and Hawks aren't gonna cut Kruger after his rookie year
#4 = Yes needs to happen
#5 = Crawford/Emery 2012-13

Good start right here.

I'd add no Oduya and less Leddy.

Not sure what to think of Bickell and Frolik. They had a solid series but were flat out terrible in the regular season.

didn't love losing in the first round at all...let alone against this team. but it is what it is.

as a whole, the season wasn't completely negative. but there are obvious problems with the team.

we had really dark times (during the losing streak).

I am in no way shape or form interested in being nice coyotes don't deserve credit they play the way they have to cause they suck, the hawks lost this series because again and again they take shifts off and assume all their "talent will win them games. I look forward to watching Nashville slaughter them

No he isn't. Nor should he be. If Crawford gets scapegoated for this series it will be a tragedy. He didn't cost the Hawks this game or this series.

Wow. First Playoff series win in franchise history.

What a pathetic franchise.

-Cut whoever needs to be cut, call up Beach/Morin/Saad/McNeill and see if they fill any of the spots we need to be filled, if not, make a trade move.

-Get a legit tender

-Special teams

I believe there were moments that Crawford really kept us in the series, but c'mon game 3 and 4 OT he let in the SOFTEST goals I have ever seen in playoff OT, even more than Kane's OT winning goal.

Team salutes the fans, but I can't help but feel they should be apologizing. Thank god that season's over.

Some changes need to be made over the offseason. They said the Hawks have 20+ players already under contract for next year.

Yeah, that needs to change. As well as some coaching changes.
