With this trade we become the new Pens of a few years ago. Center depth with NO winger depth except our wingers would be even worse and our centers would be even worse.

Martin is a salary dump for you guys. This is just bad. Not even talkign about the value (which IMO the Ducks get ***** on) but salary wise and the way this team is made makes this trade terrible for the Ducks.

If they suck so bad then why do you want them?

Perry + Ryan would be able to get any player in the NHL. Let alone adding a top 6 pick with them.

You think PIT would accept that for Crosby?

Lol no, the Pens have two players that you certainly would not get for Perry + Ryan.

yes because leading a team to a first round exit and not showing up like Malkin did is much more impressive?

Yup Crosby is so valuable playing 20 games a year vs two guys that rarely ever miss games.

Still managed more playoff points this year than those two combined

8 points in 6 games in the playoffs constitutes not showing up now?

Cool and what was the Ducks record in the playoffs?

Seriously the hilarity of Ducks fans coming in here spouting this type of nonsense when your team didn't even make the playoffs

I made a post saying Malkin+Staal for the RPG line just for ***** and giggles but it would probably get turned down in here? I get it, no wingers to play with. But i guess this would mean you try targeting Parise. Ha, imagine the Pens if this went down for fantasy purposes.

Apparently good players can't miss the playoffs?

Indeed. This thread is silly.

Ducks can't gut their only bright spots for 1 guy, no matter how good that guy is.

It doesn't make the Ducks a better team, and its probably an overpayment for Malkin. Its probably an overpayment for anyone in the league.

Give him a break, he's obviously a little touchy after what just happened to them.

As great as Malkin is, there's no way I'd consider this as a Duck fan. Perry and Ryan together, is more valuable than Malkin, at least to the Ducks with their budget situation. And then possibly throwing in the 6th pick in this years draft, as well? No chance.

A two time Art Ross trophy winner is someone everyone wants to have. But because Pittsburgh has Crosby, if they get two great wingers for him it'll be a success. We also need a good defensive/offensive dman and the 2012 1st gives it to us. This is one of the few times i would deal Malkin, but Perry, Ryan, 2012 1st is a good return, as long as Perry re-signs.

And that is way to much for Malkin. Perry has almost 90 goals the last 2 years, Ryan has almost 70, Perry brings it every night. Would not be adding Ryan and the no.6 pick to Perry...it's ridiculous.....

There is zero chance you would get Perry, Ryan and a no.6 pick. Zero.

and that's the thing, the only reason the Pens would have to move Malkin is an offer was so extreme that Shero simply could not bring himself to say no, and of course unless a team was very, very desperate (or the GM was stupid) people aren't going to be offering up those deals. You don't trade a Malkin for "fair value", you don't trade a Malkin period unless something forces your hand which certainly is not the case here, far from it. It simply makes sense for nobody involved.
