Barring some incredible, inexplicable development, Pirri isn't magically going to be ready to take over the reigns as #2C next year when he could not even make the team this season, despite having essentially no genuine competition for that spot.

Perhaps. I think his hockey IQ is elite. Hes not going to be a Stamkos, RNH or any high scoring lotto type pick but hes going to be a complete 3 zone player.

Second year at Rockford and hes been scoring his entire career. Are the Hawks going for the cup next year? Not with the holes they have. Baring some offseason deals, Crawford is in net next year. Can he bounce back. I hope so but what kind of year it will be, who knows. Doubt he'll be pushing the upper tier of goalies. Defense has too many holes. So then whats left? Deal for some veteran/s. Another Brunette or Morrison or Oduya perhaps? No thanks. Costs too much with marginal short term returns. Ideal time to find out what the 'almost' ready prospects have and let them get experience. Cap hit... ideal. Cost, dont need to trade any assests or futures. Cant trade a '13 2nd or 3rd anyways.

I tossed one his way.

There are obviously better options, but I don't think he should instantly be taken out of consideration.

He improved a lot. As long as he beefs up this summer, he should be way better next season.

If we don't add a Center, Krüger will play there most of next year...

That sounds like a threat.

Let's see Bolland traded or moved to 2C. He hardly plays defense anymore, and he's just an overall letdown. As long as he's not going to play D, give him a chance to score playing 2C or get him outta here for Pavs or Jordan Staal. Kruger at 3C isn't aas gritty as I would like, but at least we know he plays defense.

I hate how Bolly is turning out. He was one of my favorite players, but he's just not coming through anymore.

^ Bolland. Other than that screen on the goal in game 5. I don't even remember him from the series.

Kane and Krüger will share the load. I will stand by this all summer long

Bolland was great when paired with Hossa for a stretch in early 2011. It might have been after he returned from injury.

It would be really nice if Pirri or Kruger blew up over the summer and just took the job in training camp.

I doubt any of our young Cs will win this spot. If anything, they will be handed it because of no competition
