I think everyone is healthy except Kes. Haven't heard anything about his progression, but knowing him, he's all of a sudden 100%.

I'd like to hope that is true, but I don't think it's the case. I think he would have liked to join his fellow players in practicing instead of being separated by the lockout. I think he's genuinely behind schedule on his rehab, and I'm concerned about what that means for the Canucks this season and more importantly, Kesler's career.

That would've meant giving up the $200K a week he was still getting paid during the lockout due to his injury.

It would be in Canucks interest to get him declared healthy as soon as possible. If they couldn't make that happen, it's pretty clear he's still got some ways to go in his recovery.

Kesler should take his time, if AV does his job this team should get in playoff position without him. And as we well know with the NHL's current level of parity, playoff seeding means very little. Need a healthy Kesler in the spring.

@FarhanLaljiTSN: Re Kesler: there is no time frame for his return. Agent: "Our goal is that he's able to play the next 10 years, not the next 2 months" #tsn

@FarhanLaljiTSN: More on Kesler - He has recently started stick-handling.

With the parity, we need every small advantage we can get. Home ice advantage is huge for this team.

I wonder when he'll be able to dive.

Everyone seems to have the lockout lingo down! Say a lot and actually mean nothing.

Doesn't sound like he's close to a return, but I too would like to see him take his time and make damn sure he's 100% before coming back.

Better be back for the playoffs or we're going nowhere.

Look at our division... we'll have at least 3rd in the West locked down.

Really? Minny seems significantly improved to me. Edmonton is a total wild card but could be very good given all their firepower. Calgary sucks and Colorado probably does too. This will be a much tougher division than in the past 3 years.

Think Minny is the only real competition (think COL will surprise) & even then their 2 prize free agents still need to get accustomed to a different system & Parise needs to get used to playing in the West.

Edmonton's defense & depth are still lackluster imo. They have a new coach who will put in his own system too. I think their young stars will keep them in games but the inexperience & lack of quality depth will be their downfall.

I agree that its going to be a much tougher division but I still think we are the class of the division.

I see:
Van
Min
Edm
Col
Cgy

We need Kesler for at least half of the half season. We're not even making the playoffs otherwise.

Minny's D (even with Suter) is pretty awful.

Don't think our division is going to be as easy as years past.

Yeah, the Wild is definitively thin on defensive depth but they have tons of young guys who could step up and make a significant impact (Scandella, Spurgeon, Brodin, Falk). So they're a wild (aaaahh) card, but less so than the Oilers because they also have a good goaltending tandem and a solid Top 6.

As usual, the Avs can surprise as well specially if players like Duchene, Johnson and Varlamov take the next step.

The only punching bag in the division will be the Flames and they'll be just outside the playoffs as usual.

Already stated why I believe it won't be as easy but why we will still come out on top. Won't be as easy as the past... I guess that means we are 3rd in the West instead of 1st.

Ahh posters posting about the skepticism about this team's ability.... Hockey really IS back

If we trade Luongo and a winger hopefully with get a 2nd/3rd line tweener center as part of the package. Bozak would be an improvement. Unless Schoeder is further along than i think. Kesler was not a big factor later in the year last year the Canucks can win a lot of games with a good pp, and their very good defensive forwards.

I don't see Bozak as better than Schroeder. His point totals are incredibly misleading. His posession numbers are horrible (Bottom 5 on the Leafs) and only get worse when he's separated from Kessel and Lupul. There's a reason he put up 4 goals in 32 AHL games at age 23.

Chances are you could put Schroeder in his position (with the Leafs) and he would put up even more points.

Gillis said Kesler will good to go at the start.

He has been rehabbing since summer, there is no way he won't start the season.

Don't go suggesting the Canucks have any sort of advantage being in the Northwest division. People will riot in the streets.

Gillis said that a long time ago. How do you ignore the latest reports saying Kesler's simply not ready?
