Fan590 in Toronto gave me a wtf moment. In their news roundup they said something along the lines of:
"The NHL and NHLPA have agreed to allow amnesty buyouts this year for players earning more than 3M, but it has to be done before Saturday, and David Booth is gone from Vancouver...for 4-6 weeks with a groin injury sustained during his physical."
Seriously, the "...", that's where the pause was. Blew my mind for a second.
He sustained an injury during his physical? That's a talent I thought only Salo possessed.

So if booth was in shape, and av says they have the best medical staff yesterday, how does he get injured during the physical?
Sometimes it just happens.
Remember, Sopel had back spasm when he tried to pick up a cracker, and Penner hurt himself when he was eating his now ex-wife's delicious pancakes.
You never know with these things, especially with athletes who is especially susceptible to injuries due to past injuries.
I was going to say the same thing as andbreatheme. Where is this idea that the second line last year was any good? Do people not remember game day threads yelling at Kesler and Booth for being completely useless?
Booth is a joke. From the very start, I thought he was a square peg being fit into a round hole. Hopefully this is the last year with him. He can take his 'head down while skating' style of play and go be a black hole elsewhere.
I was ECSTATIC when we first got him mind you, but alas, and as usual, the Panther fans were spot-on in evaluating his play. (Hopefully they're right about Garrison as well!)
What the **** I wish Samuelsson was still on this team.

GILLIS.
DO SOMETHING.
I liked samuelsson until near the end, he was incredibly lazy.
Detroit fans also do not seem to have wanted to him. Samuelsson would not fix this mess.

I totally agree, Booth is a joke but so is our second line right now, whatever it even is.
I want Booth gone as bad as anybody but there has to be a replacement.
The Booth hate is a bit ridiculous. When healthy he should be good for 20+ goals and 100+ hits; something only roughly 30 players achieve each year. He doesn't have the greatest hockey sense but he's still a valuable player to this team. Hopefully he gets healthy sooner rather than later.
Good God with the Booth hate. We have smaller, cerebral forwards and it's shouted that we're too soft and no one will drive to the net. We get an energetic forward who hits and drives to the net (with the potential for excellent 2nd line point production) and it's shouted that he doesn't have enough hockey sense.
The problem is, players that hit, drive to the net, produce points and maintain good hockey sense are ridiculously hard to find and are even more expensive. We will never simply be able to *get* one for our second line.
In the end, a healthy Booth is a fantastic 2nd line player. Combine with healthy Kesler and mediocre-to-decent playmaker on the wing, and that's a championship second line.
Complain not that he is here! Mourn that he is gone.
