First Round Bust: A HF Wild Board Co-op project blog endeavour thingy

Can I get this stickied? If this is (ideally) be an extension of this board, then maybe this deserves some proper respect.

So kids, we started a blog.

Here's the website.

A few things on the agenda, or my 2 cents.

1. We need someone to lord over the site...not Mussolini-like, but someone to do the day-to-day type stuff. Talking with GS, we're in the camp that we'd like to contribute more than be everyday taskmasters, so if someone is willing to kind of be the point man and be hands on with it it would be appreciated.
2. Banner/photoshop work...I got ideas, but I figure we could use this thread as a collective brainstorm/throw crap against the wall and see if it sticks atmosphere.
3. Maybe a central email for the blog? gmail maybe? From my experience there will be requests, questions, and advertising opportunities abound.
4. A First Round Bust....twitter account? That's right....don't be afraid to dream big darling.
5. I mentioned this to GS...if we simply use the blog as an extension of the boards (GS's GST threads, Jarick's prospect updates, Opinion/Commentary/Tidbits, etc.) there is no reason why we can't crank out material on a regular basis. And if we have plenty of contributors, then no one person should feel like they have to shoulder the load.

Anyways...I think this is a good spot to discuss what could be a pretty good thing.

While I think that Blogspot may be a decent spot to start. If you want the site to be successful "we" need to think of a better way to present the information that you wish to.
In laments terms I think that it would be wise to discuss developing a new website in the near future.

I'm a novice web developer and would be willing to lend help when I have free time.

Like it would love to contribute. Too busy to do the day to day things on it, but would contribute something once a week at least.

I had a couple ideas for a logo, I was thinking a Jersey with #1 and name Bust then have "st Round Bust" to the right of the Jersey in the same jersey lettering style.

I'm not the best with photoshop so I doubt I could make it look like how its pictured in my head though.

I also have web design skills but don't want to get sucked into something with any deadlines or anything.

Don't like my prospect updates?

J/k, but I would love to contribute, just not day-to-day stuff. I already have responsibilities elsewhere but will still love to help

I'd be willing to help also, I don't have many skills as far as web development goes, but I'd be able to write once a week or so.

Site looks good guys.

As far as helping out, I've got a ton of things going on at this moment but I'd love to chip in here and there further down the line when things slow down for me.

I can do a little photoshop here and there but I'm definitely not great. So if you're in a pinch and need some help in this area, feel free to contact me and I can see what I can do.

Look forward to reading the articles.

1. Let's not kids ourselves, it's going to be me. And that should be apparent since I took care of 2-5.

2. Right now it's a black and white version of Risebrough. I like to think that the Wild logo being the only thing in color represents the hope for the future. Or a wolfbearcat. Anyways, if anyone has a better idea I'm all ears.

3. firstroundbust@gmail.com

4. twitter.com/firstroundbust

5. Please add stuff.

6. I love your prospect updates CT! Not as much as Casey, but that's just hard to beat.

I'm fairly certain he meant you, probably a holdover of when I was doing the prospect thread on the old board

I've had a few ideas, but I've not had the time to put anything down on paper. As a software architect... I've got skills to help, but no time...

Yeah, between releases at work... All things must be in by the end of the year, dotchaknow?

/sigh

First question i have, though... is...

Are you paying for hosting or is it just through blogspot at the moment?

For most things, I use a pretty cheap hosting service that includes a CMS, Wordpress, e-Comm, and more. One thing that I was having an inkling of an idea is two things; Taking Jarick's xls and trying to create a SQL schema to support it and also maybe doing a high rez version of the Wildicorn logo and seeing what Cafe Press has to offer...

Edit; I just realized that I forgot to set my fantasy roster for the week. Talk about "no time"... wtf.

Give me about 5 years and maybe I'll be able to actually give some useful statistical analysis

I'll try and come up with some beer league centric ideas, but nothing's coming to mind. To be honest, my mind is fried with personal crap right now.

I wish I could help, but my tri-daily newspaper, "The Janitorial" takes up a lot of my time.

We could have a lot of us writing about different aspect of the team, like Jarick takes a statistical look at the team, CT looks at prospects, GS is the funny one, we each take a part of the team and can write about it either daily or weekly. That'd be cool.

That's sort of what I'd like to see. Everyone has their own little niche and that's great. Really anything other than long-winded recaps of the game is welcome. Let's be honest, there's enough of those out in the blogosphere.

Here's an SVG. (EDIT: This is the rainbow one; not sure who made the circle one.)

Maybe we could try to "Delegate" work amongst people?

Have a few people that are dedicated to prospect info.. Could even spread that up further such as European prospects and NA prospects.

Then have 2 people dedicated to photoshop, and if you're going to move to a new site(?) have a few(2?) work on the site.

Just a thought, that way no one is really taxed on anything and can have other people pick up their slack if they find they don't have time to do it.

That would make it much better to read, and with so many of us contributing, there would hopefully be updates close to every day.

I'd like to do a weekly piece on something, but just not sure what of. I was thinking something along the lines a who's hot, who's not thing where I look beyond the stats or something like. You know something like who's quietly been playing well?

Another idea, if there are contributors, try to shoot for an article every couple weeks (like Jarick's crappy stats every 2nd and 4th Wednesday of the month)?
