C Jim Slater
-Speed to burn, plays hard, could play up and down the lineup, think Stalberg as a center but better defensively, perfect fit here IMO, could surprise and get 40 points with enough ice time

D Barret Jackman
-Excellent physical defensive d-man, came up under Q, everything we need on D, complete opposite of Oduya

LW Dustin Penner
-6'4" 240LB, great in front of the net, needs to sign a cheap one year deal and score some goals, Hawks are perfect fit for him to do that, helps PP

Goalies
-Take your pick, tons of great options

Actually, I'm still pissed Hutton didn't get a look while he was up, as if Crawful's confidence was more important than finding a decent goalie.

This is pretty far from the truth.
There are next to no goalies available that would help us.

We're not going to make significant acquisitions via FA. They'll be via trade.

I'd be interested in Wideman, Jackman, Harding, Gaustad, realistically.

If I'm dreaming then add Parise, Suter, Doan, Koivu, Jagr, Rask, Green, and Kane.

There is no way Shero would trade Staal AND Engo for Sharp, let alone Staal for Sharp straight up. Engo isn't going anywhere.

Vokoun - you mean with his severe groin tear that has no timetable on it? Not to mention 36 years old. No thanks.
Harding - The one with as bad of stats as Crawford over the last 20 or so games? No thanks.
Hedberg - LOL ya, all we need is another back-up, at age 38.

Jim Slater is a bottom-6 player, nothing more.

Barret Jackman is prone to "What the ****?" moments.. as many a Blues fan will attest to. He would be an improvement on Montador though.

Dustin Penner is Bryan Bickell with even less drive and intensity.. no thanks.

Shane O’Brien

Matches up well on a 3rd-pairing, provides some toughness, made $1.1 million last year and we could give him a raise on a 2-year deal without walking a tight-rope with our cap. Would come at about half the price of a Jackman, don't want to be spending $4 million on another defenceman given what we are already paying the likes of Hjalmarsson and Montador.

3rd in PK ice-time among Colorado d-men this year, a unit which finished 12th in the league, not bad for a non-playoff team. Was 2nd in PK ice-time with Nashville the previous season, a unit which finished 5th in the league.

Agreed on all accounts. Still would like to bring in Vokoun though. I think we'll go more offensive on defense. Oduya would be fine if the asking price is low enough, around $3 mil. Corvo is another good option if he leaves Boston.

We need a bottom 6 center and we need speed. Slater provides that.

Jackman, we just plain need, I shouldn't have to explain.

Penner would be a cheap gamble, and a better one than Brunette if you ask me.

I really wanted Jagr last year and that hasn't changed. Bring him in. He's playing like a ****ing beast in the playoffs, I'm really impressed.

Too many left-handed shots. It won't happen.

So what, sign a lesser player who is a right handed shot? Jagr and Kane together would be great. If defense is a concern, put him with Toews.

Brunette's gone. Looks like we found a lefty replacement.

Seriously, citing the handedness of a player as a reason the team shouldn't pursue him is ludicrous.

Do you not remember Jagr saying the biggest reason he didn't sign with Pittsburgh was because they had too many left-handed shots. Not "lesser players".. guys like Crosby and Malkin. Well.. Chicago's two best players are also left-handed in Toews and Kane.. while Philly's two best players (offensively) are right-handed shots in Giroux and Briere.
