If Boston doesnt reach the finals i can definitely see Thomas traded next year.
Not sure Boston would have interest in Crawford because we already have Kudhobin but i would be happy with a 2nd and a good d prospect. I like McNeil too.

yeah I'm not trading any good prospect for a 38 year old goalie. I would do that Kipper trade though. Gets Crawford outta here, gives up Pirri/Morin who we don't really need, and the 1st I can live with.

1 year of Thomas is not worth a 1st or Mcneill

2nd + mid level prospect IMO is best offer from Hawks

As for Kipper

Hawks 1st + Craw IMO is more then fair given Kipper's costs/age

Prospects come and go. Kipper is one of those very few goalies, who would take a team like the Hawks to the Cup finals. That's a price you have to pay to become a contender. Hawks will never again have such a deep team that they would win the Cup with a mediocre goalie like Niemi or Crawford.

But then again, some fans are probably fine with first round exits.

Actually Kipper wasn't that good last year ,, He was part of big reason the Flames dug themselves such a deep hole

Thomas to CHI will happen even if the Bruins were to win the Stanley Cup this year. However Blackhawk fans are not going to like what they will give up to get him

It's totally wrong. The team in front of him didn't show enough passion and was prone to horrifying mental lapses. In general, the coaching strategy and the players did not gel well.

Kipper held the team in the playoff race.

I agree with this is the sense that Kiprusoff has only had one deep playoff run ever. I know the quality of the team has a lot to do with this, but for all the regular season success, I can't find many examples where Kiprusoff has stolen a series or backstopped a team in the NHL playoffs a round or two deeper than many thought possible.

He is a great goalie, but based on playoff pedigree and age and contract, I wouldn't offer much.

There's a reason why a lot of the time most Flames fans would probably agree that we would be Columbus bad this year if we didn't have Kipper. He's getting up there in age, doesn't have that game-stealing ability like he used to consistently but he's a goaltender that gives the Flames every chance to win night in and night out.

The Flames just screw up almost every time though.

What do flames fans think about the value in my two proposals? Too much? Not enough?

You're entirely wrong.

Kipper is the ONLY reason we weren't in the basement beside Edmonton and Columbus. He won us games we had no hope in winning. He stands on his head game in and game out. He certainly has bad games where he lets in a softy or two, but Flames fans certainly expect too much out of him. He gets very little help from our players, and that would explain his "poor" seasons.

I'd say the Value for Kipper is pretty much spot on. I'd be alright with moving him for a 1st, and a decent prospect along with Crawford. We don't really have a need for Crawford, so McNeil would be preferable, but I'm sure we would take Morin/Pirri and Crawford.

He wasn't great two years ago.

This year he was the only reason they were anywhere near a playoff spot.

I don't think the Flames would have any interest in Crawford. They'd take him if they had to, but wouldn't be interested in him as an asset.

2nd deal is very nice value.

Wrong. The difference between the Jackets and the Flames was only Kipper. Similar team makeup, only thing is that is different is goaltending. Without Kipper the Flames would have been battling for a lottery pick this year. Im from Calgary and I know. The team was that bad in front of him.
