Would be nice to sign Gustafsson and let him play SEL one more year. Another year of Backs/Hards, and then next year Hackett and one of the vet goalies up, Kuemper and Gustafsson splitting time in Houston.

Agreed, he is even better than Kuemper in my mind and could backup Hackett in a few (several) years time IMO.

I'm just reverting back to Lemaire thinking of a tandem. Think he had that one right probably like everything else. You're a starting goalie for one night only and let's see if you earn another start.

That's the beauty of having a Euro or two in the mix is they have a nice development system in place. With only 2 AHL spots for developing goalies, Europe and college are great places to stash extras.

Was thinking how many championships and honors the current Wild prospect pool have amassed. Her's a partial list off the top of my head:

Granlund
Finnish league rookie of the year
Finnish league champion
World championships winner

Brodin
Swedish league champion
World Juniors champion

Coyle
Hockey East rookie of the year
*QMJHL champion(almost)

Larsson
World Juniors champion
Swedish league champion
Swedish league rookie of the year

Phillips
QMJHL champion
Memorial Cup champion

Jason Zucker
WCHA rookie of the year
U-18 Gold medalist twice
World Juniors champion

Lucia
BCHL champion

Haula
McNaughton Cup

Gustafsson
World Junior champion

I don't know if winning begets more winning, but if so, the Wild will be in good shape.

Russo's blog said that we will sign him and he'll play another season in the SEL, which is a good choice. We have a deep goaltending pool. I love where that's setting up, we have done a nice job finding talented goaltenders, but it appears that most top goaltenders really aren't taken in the first round. Our goaltenders have always tended to be better than most, but I think last year our goalies played the best they could have considering our collapse.

We don't have much in the way of defensive prospects coming up through the pipeline, but hopefully the influx of young offensive talent will help a ton. Scoring goals helps everything, so hopefully we can somehow address that next year here.

Luongo mysteriously disappears from Vancouver. Suddenly, all of our opponents, when they come to the X, have to sign a local beer league goalie. It just happens to be a coincidence that their names are all spelled eerily similar...

Bobby Loongo
Roberta Lawlonga
...
etc.

That solves our goal scoring problem... At least on home ice...

Haha, I think I'm ready for this to happen, we'd at least win 42 games

So, tonight's game 4.

I think Saint John will sweep Rimouski.

I think so. too bad they already lost one, so they can't have the perfect playoffs.

Wait a second...we might see a trade go down shortly, and here's the logic:

The Wild are currently at 54/50 contracts.

There are 5 contracts that slide (this is assuming Russo's right about how Zucker's contract behaves, I'm not certain that he is).

That puts us at 49/50 contracts.

If we sign Gustafsson, we will be at 50/50 contracts and unable to sign Granlund. The reverse is also true. That is, unless that contract is assumed to slide...I think I'll try find someone who knows for certain...

Yeah, now that I've distanced myself for a moment, I don't think they'd count against the contract limit until next year. The Coyle and Phillips contracts counted (but then were sliders) because in theory they could have played this season. I think we're in the clear on this.

Don't know how many of you guys follow MMA (I know Ben does) but here's Zucker "taking on" Dan Hardy.
